The one collab completely unprecedented in Capcom history is the one with Fender to bring the Rathalos Telecaster into the game, something that Capcom added for the Monster Hunter community. Between August 27 and September 24, players are going to be turning the Forbidden Lands upside down with guitar emote. Yet while some gamers are happy to add this event to the spotlight, let’s say the others… are just out of tune.
First off, and more importantly, this collab is just cool to put it simply. A Rathalos Telecaster? Such absurd crossover energy Monster Hunter definitely lives for. A player, @darkqualza, put it rather succinctly: “This looks fun! Can’t wait to get it! 😎.” With a growing chorus, @DeathsFire6336 expressed all of our thoughts, “Give it to me now Capcom I need it.” Air guitar shredding midway through a hunt? This equals maximum Monster Hunter absurdity, and we’re here for it.
But some people can’t get on with it. The responses are a combination of excitement, confusion, and frustration. Mostly frustration. See, while Capcom is busy dropping guitar emotes, PC players are still suffering from performance issues that, in their own words, render the game “unplayable.” @Femtokun: “Stop…Just stop it. Fix the game it is unplayable on a 3080 with RTX off, still, after all this time.” Oof. Then you have the others, like @SnorFaxs, saying: “Doing everything but improving performance.”
Then there are those who don’t … get it. What was the reaction of @WrathfulAlaskan? “Wtf is this stupid shit…” On the other hand, @Caelleigh1 sort of accused Capcom of hiring one of Fortnite’s guys: “Stop adding all of this trash.” Harsh, but hey, not every collab stays home with everyone.
A few had more specific questions: “Why is this not a hunting horn?” from @chillinskey. Great question–imagine it: swinging a Fender guitar as a weapon. @BrianPR9 was along the same lines: “No fender hunting horn?” Missed opportunity, Capcom.
Then there comes the timing: @HokageoftheTrap wasn’t happy about learning of something coming in a month: “Why in the fuck am I getting a notification for an update a months away.” He had a point. @ItsSundayKnight just yawned to the announcement: “Stupid shit more than a month away. Yawn.”
Having said all that, don’t forget some of the good things. @drakeskull95 gave props where they were due: “You pick the most interesting colabs, MH. you know that?” And @JustMochi_ reminded that “Not to mention it’s a free event quest, not a paid update.”
These mixed-reactions are everywhere. Some want to enjoy the fun chaos, some are begging for fixes, and some are just… confused. Can this usher a huge wave of player traffic back? Probably not. Will this grant us some pretty hilarious moments during the hunts? For sure!
If only the PC performance patch could be pushed out as fast as these collabs…
