Max Payne 3 entered the market 13 years back, and people remain angry for a remaster or, at least, another entry in the series. This gritty shooter brought guns to bullet time and ingrained itself forever in the player’s memory.

So what is the deal with Max Payne 3? Or first of all, it started as a new entry in the series: unlike 1 and 2 made by Remedy Entertainment. Rockstar took over the third installment; it capitalized on the snowy noir New York and reversed it into the sun-soaked madness of São Paulo. Sure, it was different… Some liked it; some merely didn’t know what to do with it.

One user, @sarcophagus_v, said it felt “Gears of War, which is very not Max Payne.” Ouch. Then there came the opposite: @PaulStuartMorde declared it was “the best one of the trilogy.” So uh, the jury’s out.

Random people proclaimed the multiplayer was surprisingly good. @anontweets100 brought in the nostalgia: “I remember playing this on my ps3 like it was yesterday.” On the other hand, @McKinneyJazzy said, “Multiplayer was so good.” And honestly, he was not wrong.

Now the real kicker: everyone wants a remaster. @herrozx just tagged Rockstar straightforwardly: “We need a remaster for current gen consoles.” @Boldizsar666 agreed: “A PS5 remaster would be superb.” And @campbel17357328? Just wants a simple port: “I wish they just ported it to the ps5.”

Next comes the soundtrack. @1080sage said of HEALTH, the band behind the industrial noise-rock score laid down in Max Payne 3: “With one of the best soundtracks of all time. HEALTH knocked it out of the park.” And really? They’re not wrong. The soundtrack JUST goes.

Some fans, however, started to get oddly specific about their fond memories. @THE_TERRORIZER put it this way: “This game made me want to drink so much as a teen.” And then there was @Logic_Engine: “This game taught me day drinking hard liquor is perfectly fine.” Uh… maybe don’t take life lessons from Max Payne, guys.

Then, we touch upon the language barrier. @ichrsmas8432 put it like this: “This is the game that made me want to learn Portuguese.” And that really is fair. Half of the game’s dialogue is in Portuguese, so immersion was VERY real.

So the big question, will there ever be a new Max Payne? @TherealBarratt observes, “And they never made a new one yet.” They haven’t. Rockstar has been busy with GTA Online and Red Dead, but the fans remain hopeful.

Remake reports have surfaced. According to @marianzera: “I heard rumors they’re in the making, not sure if true or when they gonna come out.” Could be nothing. Could be everything. Only time will tell.

Now, for the present, Max Payne 3 remains a cult classic–flaws and all: whether you adore the dramatic tone switch or hate the very idea of it, there’s really one thing everyone agrees on–people really care. If ever Rockstar decides to revive it, though, let’s just say it’s the demand that’s loud and clear.
