This is something that keeps on changing-the Marvel Rivals rank reset has just dropped, and the opinions regarding it are hardly unanimous. In Finn’s tweet, one of the most famous content creators on the scene, it was simply stated, “Yeah that rank reset was def needed #marvelrivals,” along with some gameplay.
Almost no one seems to have responded to the tweet, which is suspicious. Rank resets are just not considered an emergency on marketing days for competitive games; they are too calm to be bugging any gamer out.
So, simply put, a rank reset is a profile wipe of every competitive standing-back down to zero or thereabouts. There would be alleged extrinsic benefits for leveling within matchmaking because a mess it has been for far too long. But rank reset is either adored or publicly spat on-never anything caught in between.
Some call it a rank reset, and others just say it is a rank reset of hard work because they basically busted their asses grinding for months on end to get to a point, only to be rank reset.
So it does sound that Finn is going quite easy with them: He seems to be really all for this and says the reset is “def needed.” The eerie silence on replies speaks otherwise. You would at least expect something along the lines of “THEY SUCK” or, “THANK YOU LORD.”
All the players are in the state of “what just happened,” or players that would usually complain are instead saying, “It was obviously needed, so there is no point in arguing.”
For those unaware, Marvel Rivals is a hero-based shooter that has been gaining popularity lately. A simple kind of description would be Overwatch with Marvel characters, which sounds cool, but just imagine how difficult it would be to balance this game, especially when a new hero comes out and changes everything about the existing meta.
Rank resets help somewhat in stabilizing such an environment where really high-tier players are made to match against newbies in matchmaking.
Unless things change, silence means all’s well with no drama for now. Maybe those people just like Finn too much. Or they’re busy with their lives instead of tweeting as they work their way back up the ranks.
Either way, many questions arise because it is a reset-inquiring minds want to know if this will work for matchmaking, fast-track rank queues, or just confuse current players trying hard.
We will know soon enough. At this moment, however, Finn opts for one voice. Perhaps the rest of the community will catch up soon. Or perhaps they will save their collective opinions for the next patch. Either way, the universe of Marvel Rivals is still unpredictable.
