Attention, Marvel Rivals crew. Just in, an entire new game update was reported by NetEase, operationally on April 17, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. UTC. Short client update means no downtime-server pop and you’re in with the new costume colors, bundle packs, and a heap of fixes.
First-up, the big one. It allowed the customization of costume colors. At last, you will not look like just every other Iron Man or Black Panther looped inside the lobby. The patch notes tease, “go unleash your creativity,” which basically means go wild with neon pink Hulk, or whatever nightmare fuel you dream of. Not sure if there are going to be limits to it (please say there will be), but hey, self-expression, right?
Then the store bundles. No word yet on what’s coming in there, but judging from some of NetEase’s past record, there will probably be a couple of nice skins, maybe an emote or two, and currency packs if you want to take the shortcut. The important thing-will they be worth that cost? History says sometimes.
Then some improvements and bug fixes-the tweet stays vague, as always. It could be anything from “we fixed that one glitch where Spider-Man gets stuck in a wall” to “matchmaking no longer takes three business days.” Either way, less jank means win.
The good part, though: no downtime. No wasting time staring at a maintenance screen; straight-up update and right back in. Little wins add up.
Now, for the big question-why is the community radio silent? Generally, a patch announcement like this would have flown into all kinds of replies-some with hype, some with demands, or at least one would have complained about balance changes; it hasn’t happened this time around.
Maybe everyone is busy in theory crafting their new color schemes. Or they might all be in-game and grinding before the patch, quiet-but eerily so.
And if you’re it for the full breakdown, well, patch notes are linked and live (see tweet). Until then, remember to plan your new drip. The countdown begins: April 17 can’t come soon enough.
And if you see a lime-green Doctor Strange next match… no, you didn’t see it.
