The event lasts until April 25, 2022, and invites participants to seek out the Welcome Signs scattered all over Krakoa’s map; take a screenshot in front of it, and then post that photo in the comments or retweet it from the official posting. Edits? No way – keep it real, folks.
So, what are the sweeteners? Worth it. Ten lucky people will be going home packing some exclusive Jeff the Land Shark Hand Fan (uh-huh) while the other ten will get something called a Series 2 Fridge Magnet. Not too shabby for a quick screen grab, huh? Winners will be announced on April 29, after which they will have 15 working days to claim their prizes-so keep on checking those inboxes!
So what of Hellfire Gala? Now, if you were not aware, then this is the Marvel way of siphoning off all the glamour and drama of the comics and bringing it into the game. Krakoa was already a hot one in the crowd. Now, it just became hotter because it has Welcome Signs scattered all around, although all of these require a little bit of discovery to get.
That’s the best part: real-life reward, blended with the in-game challenge. None of the skins or XP boosts will be rewarded here, only some physical merch tied back to the game lore. Jeff the Land Shark is one of the fan favorites in the comics, and a version printed as a hand fan is absurd but excellent.
It is really signature of this event-simple fun. No complicated rules, no hours of grinding-find a sign and take a pic; hope for the best. It is a clever method of involving the community without putting too much on their plate. And let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want to bring out that Jeff the Land Shark fan at the next gaming night?
The only caveat here is that they completely disallow any edits to the celebration. Marvel isn’t going to play around with this-no Photo Shop, no Crop. What they want is real engagement, and more so, this isn’t a competition; this is just a celebration of the game, not some hack’s harvesting for other jokers who know how to crop with a phone.
At the same time, April 25 gives a nice advance timeline to players to get involved. By contrast, winners will learn their results just a few days after, thus keeping excitement high. It’s such an adorable little moment of excitement for the Marvel Rivals community, especially with hints that similar events are in store for the future.
