Mario Kart Tours is adding a feature that many thought should have been present in the initial release, Multiplayer. Although the game does let you play online against millions of foes the ability to play against friends in local matches has been missing. This feature has been one of the main selling points of the Mario Kart franchise for years, but still, it was not present in the original release of the mobile edition.
The game is adding this feature for any fans who subscribe to the Gold Pass. This does lock the feature behind a paywall for its beta period with a full free release expected in the future.
A real-time multiplayer beta test is planned for December and will be available to #MarioKartTour Gold Pass subscribers.

There is no date set for the release, but it has been announced that it is planned for December 2019. The game is currently released with single-player only, which confuses some people as it uses bots with player-like usernames. Right now, you can add friends, gain rewards, and compete with them indirectly.
The main menu has been advertising Multiplayer since the game launched with the text simply saying “Inbound.” Fans have been waiting in high anticipation as playing against friends is the main attraction of the series.
Although this game is a different take on the classic formula, it has still been well received speeding its way into multiple headlines. It is the second most downloaded game from Nintendo beating Super Mario Run and Dr. Mario World by almost triple the downloads in the first month alone.
That is part of what made the lack of local multiplayer so confusing. Although fans have been beating the courses and blasting through content, the idea of racing friends seems fundamental to the brand as a whole. The fact that it is entering beta is a great thing, but locking it only to members of the Gold Pass is no doubt going to raise some concern.
The multitude of gacha mechanics built into this game only goes to further concern for many fans. This puts aside others who are just happy that the feature is on the horizon are going deep into the game to practice in hopes of being the fastest racer in their social circles.
If you want to know what all the commotion is about, you can easily download Mario Kart Tour on both iOS and Android stores. The game is free to play and can be played for unlimited amounts of time with no limiting factor. This is your chance to be the winner of the race and speed across the Mario themed tracks.
