Just as the legends of League of the Players would be bad news just about now-the return of Arcane skins adored by players will not happen soon, as stated by Riot Games.
That sounded as if someone had dropped a bomb on the floor: “We haven’t been able to find the right fit to bring the Arcane skins back, and it unfortunately won’t be happening in the foreseeable future.” Ouch.
Newbies, here you go: Arcane skins were available as limited-time drops with regard to the phenomenally popular Netflix show that took the League of Legends universe by storm.
For instance, the champions Jinx, Vi, and Jayce were dressed up in a totally fresh, steampunk-ified look with fresh animations and voice lines. And now? They go into lock-up.
What are the responses? Total devastation. Fans were holding hopes for some rerun to happen, especially with the rumors of a second season for Arcane nearing. But Riot stayed clear of that-no dice. The reason: They never found the “right fit” to bring them back. Whatever that means.
Some speculated about possible licensing issues being the culprit, what with Arcane having been a highly publicized collaboration with Netflix. Maybe all the red tape means Riot can’t put these skins into rotation again.
Others think this whole thing is marketing-making them rare for excitement with whatever future exclusives come around. At least for the collectors that were never able to grab one.
So let’s face it; FOMO is serious now. Limited skins really sting when they’re rare, but Arcane hurts a little more simply because they were all packed with such love. The show was hugely successful and skins would have been a perfect tie-in. For now, unless Riot changes their mind (which, hey, they’ve done in the past), they’re gone for good.
So what’s next? Nothing so very different: mythics, legendaries-you name it. But for fans who wanted their second chance at Arcane? Back to the black market for accounts with them, or just crying into their keyboards.
At this point, all we have left is to sit painfully waiting to see if Riot will ever reverse the decision. If Arcane Season 2 becomes an even bigger phenomenon than the first, maybe a reconsideration will arise. Until then, RIP to one of the coolest skin lines in League history.
And hey, at least we will always have memories. And fan art. And copium. So much copium.
