The Old Blood is the 26th update to Warframe and brings tons of new content, new enemies, and a new warframe for you to use. The patch is live on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and will soon be released for the Nintendo Switch.
With Grendel and a new villain to fight, there is tons to see in this patch. There have also been changes to how Melee works building upon the changes made earlier this year. With Phase 2 being implemented, there is much to see, including smoother combos and the return of manual blocking.
Grendel is one of the biggest parts of this patch. Like a predator, Grendel charges into battle to feast on the cruel and corrupted. Despite the fearsome appearance, Grendel is a noble soul. Visit Leverian and begin your hunt for Grendel to add to your collection.
Each enemy you consume with Grendel grants bonus armor. You literally feast upon the enemy swallowing them whole and storing them in your stomach. You keep them there and then suddenly vomit them up covered in toxic bile. If you do manage to consume them completely, you nourish nearby squad members with a buff. After becoming engorged with enemies, you can curl into a ball and roll into opponents, sending them flying.
Aside from a new warframe, a new enemy has appeared. This is a villain whose sole purpose is to take you down. After you kill a Kuva-Spiked Grineer, their death will trigger their rebirth into your Kuva Lich. This Lich will claim territory in the Origin System and build a following of loyal Thralls. You will then have to track these beings down to find the Kuva Lich so you can take him down once again. Be warned; if you do kill him, he may just rise again in a new form.
Phase 2 of Melee Changes have also been added. New Heavy Attacks are available for all Melee Weapons. Although slower, these attacks will deal more damage with a mighty punch. Melee attacks now lift enemies in the air and can leave them exposed for further attacks allowing you to juggle them in a combo of chaos.
Melee also received a major rebalance, which has changed the weapon stats. This will impact some weapons, but fans say that others received some decent buffs. Manual blocking and melee state have both returned. These were asked fro several times, but now they are permanently part of the game.
Warframe is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It is free to play, and all updates are free for anyone who downloads the game.
