The tweet managed to make the Ratchet & Clank fans exhilarated and maybe far too hard on the Triangle button. The studio kept it minimal with a hype-worthy message: “Press Triangle to celebrate the weekend! #RatchetPS5 π” alongside a trailer that had gamers melting away in memories of the interdimensional lombax in the PS5.
The replies, however, are just utter madness. Some fans are pleading for more Ratchet & Clank content; others want Sunset Overdrive 2; some are persuaded to the point of life-or-death level about Rivet’s dancing. Let’s just say, it’s really setting this vibe-the very reason worth watching for the Insomniac community.
Firstly: the appreciation for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart runs really deep. One player (@sketch_soft10) confessed to making Rivet dance every time they launch the game because she is adorable when she dances. Another fan (@ICounterSlash) went above and beyond in praising Rivet’s introduction in Rift Apart, to the extent where it caused them to lose interest in real-life relationships until their girlfriend cosplayed as her to save their relationship. Yep. That really did happen!
But not all of them are getting along with Ratchet. The very next wave of entries quickly gets into the rest of Insomniac’s catalog, like Wolverine and Spider-Man. One user (@GmanLowther) described how he’s been relatively miserable with very little information on the Wolverine game and that he lost all hope during the leaks and sudden changes in leadership. Others (@JaegerDeus) have already started to offer up free advice for the upcoming Venom game, telling Insomniac to “undo the damage” done to the character in Spider-Man 2. What a bold move.
Then, of course, the Sunset Overdrive contingent pops in. Various replies (@spgboobroIeplay, @gus_ravi) call for a sequel or at least a PlayStation port for the cult-loved Xbox exclusive. Not that late, yet the passion is alive-to say the least, same as the memes.
Then, here and there, to sprinkle a little bit of spice, a platform war ensued. An Xbox user (@soraiskeyblade) outright asked Insomniac to bring Rift Apart to Xbox, since, in his words, “there are people who donβt have the money to buy a $700 ps5.” The replies, gruesome. From “Congrats you bought the wrong console π” (@quazzimotomoto) to “Xbox not have a magic ssd” (@Sebasti48354064), it was crystal clear that the PlayStation warring faction will not let go of this one.
In no time at all, requests for localizations showed up, with Turkish gamers (@mehmet27cg, @derin_emre08) demanding that Spider-Man games get subtitles, since Ratchet & Clank already got localization. Legit.
But the main takeaway here? The people want more Insomniac magic. Another Ratchet game, anything from Wolverine, or maybe-another-soon-coming Sunset Overdrive 2-shout is a very noticeable, very loud demand. Honestly, not that surprising after just how much joy a mere “Press Triangle to celebrate” tweet brought.
So yeah, Insomniac knows how to hype up any given weekend-even if it’s just a little prompt for a single button. One excuse is we’re all gonna be obsessed with making Rivet dance.
