In all time and history, Ratchet & Clank is arguably the most-dear-created-to-the-Playstation franchise. That somewhat will-they-won’t-they build-up inspired Insomniac Games to set explosive nostalgia in motion on Twitter. With the wrench emoji and #RatchetPS5 hashtag, more questions were created than answers. Could we have a shadow for a new game? Maybe a remaster? Or was it just a random jaunt down memory lane? Either way, the socnets came up with far-fetched opinions on the matter.

First of all, let’s address the glaring Elephant in the room: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart came out in 2021, technically a dashing modern masterpiece that exhibited the SSD magic of PS5, and since then the Innsmouth has been quiet about anything Ratchet & Clank. Any new information apart from that “taunting” Lombax tweet was exactly what fans were thirsting for.

The reply thread was a mixture of love, rage, and downright chaos. Some just reminisced, such as @Jpm0493, who wrote, “one of my most favorite games of all time,” while others like @Meshall194 had a clear cry for more: “It’s been 4 years already we need a new Ratchet and Clank!” And that’s legit. The last mainline entry preceding Rift Apart was the 2016 Ratchet & Clank reboot, so yeah, it really has been real.

Then we had Wolverine stans. Oh, boy. Back in 2021, that Wolverine game was announced; since then? Nothing. “@lionray98 said it best, ‘4 years no Wolverine news.'” Then, @PerolasdoXbox and @vinicius806god proceeded to spam “Wolverine 😴,” forever. Hard but fair.

Then platform wars further heated up. @ActualSmur79512 pushed the conspiracy theories that PlayStation exclusives lose hype because of PC and Xbox ports, dragging Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei through the mud (which, by the way, isn’t even announced). On the flip side, @philp_benjamin hit back hard and spicy, pointing out how the Xbox crowd left Stalker 2 and Hellblade 2 flops with criticisms and never bought them. Sad.

Apart from all that madness, there were some rather sane entries: like @dominic45275148 begging to see the original Ratchet & Clank trilogy get ported to PS5. Honestly? I second that. Those PS2 classics are still the best Ratchet, and to have the titles available on modern consoles would truly be a treat. @laze91 reminded everyone how Jak, and Sly Cooper were given their PS2 games on PS5, so what’s stopping Ratchet?

Weird bunch here. @JaegerDeus wants a Jak and Ratchet crossover; apparently, there are portals in both universes. @Aveono54 just randomly demanded Sunset Overdrive on PlayStation (which, fun fact, Insomniac made before Spider-Man). @WebbJarred really just wants more Spider-Man 2 suits. Priorities, people.

So, what’s my takeaway? The Insomniac tweet could be completely harmless nostalgia, but it hit the big time: people are hungry for more Ratchet & Clank. Be it a sequel, remaster, or even Wolverine announcement-anything, really. Hopefully, if Insomniac is caught up with Spider-Man, and Wolverine, and whatever else is cooking, Ratchet will get some love in between.
