As for fresh tidings on Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment from Koei Tecmo, it has sent the Zelda fanbase into a whirl. This game is set to go on sale this winter for the Nintendo Switch 2, and if the hype is any indication, it is going to be insane. Yet, not every enthusiast is thrilled about it-those very fans are audibly side-eying price and performance of the Switch 2 before the title even hits the shelves.

And what about the tale of the Age of Imprisonment? Well, for those who want to know, Koei Tecmo says it prefers to keep it mysterious, but just from the teaser, one could guess an epic hack-and-slash kind of feat under the Zelda universe. Imagine those large-scale battles, recognizable characters, and surely something heavier to look into on the lore end. In return, Hyrule Warriors first release was a colossal success, and hence, expectations from this sequel/spin-off go through the roof. But the Switch 2, still a mystery, has somewhat split emotions between excitement and skepticism.

Comments were quite a mixed bag, too, on Nintendo’s announcement. It hyped the poor guy, SillySandyAJ, when he said, “I guess I have a legit reason to save up for a Switch 2 now.” In contrast, others were dragging Nintendo for… well, being Nintendo. Alan Milanez said it plainly: “Your E-Shop and promos are a BAD joke, I’m buying used Switch 1 games until you get out of this ridiculous throne you think you are.” Ouch.

And then there is the price drama: Werewolf Freak waxes on about variable pricing, claiming Nintendo’s games could lock you in at 90-100 bucks with DLC and upgrades. Kacamamm tries to fight that, only making things worse in the war. And jazc007 just walks away from the argument: “I’d rather grab my wallet and spend my hard-earned money on something I will actually own.” Hashtags #NintendoGreed and #VoteWithYourWallets pretty much say the entire story.

Next on the list is performance concerns. mmdman886 called out Nintendo for putting DLSS in and saying it affects input delay: “Anyone who plays fighting games will tell you 30 fps + AI 30 fps causes so much input delay…the game is unplayable.” …Then, RolandoDR98 begged for a fix: “PLEASE let AoC get a free update for at least 60 fps.”

Oh, and it’s already starting to get some demands. YOUR MOTHER (yep, that’s the username) appeared twice, asking the same question: “Where is Megaman Legends 3 for the Switch 2?” Meanwhile, LOSTLEAD8R begged for some achievements. Classic pandemonium.

So yeah, Age of Imprisonment should be a pretty good game, but honestly, Nintendo has much to extinguish. The pricing fracas, the performance worries, a fan base divided between loyal and fed up-a launch ain’t gonna be a smooth one. Winter can’t come fast enough… or maybe it’s already too far gone.
