Hardcore players can look forward to the Guild Wars 2 update as it’s significantly more difficult than season 4.
Mike Zadorojny, the game’s director, said they always strive to make Guild Wars 2 accessible to the average player. However, they also took note of the feedback about season 4 being way too easy for players.
To address this situation, they decided to balance the difficulty level to present more challenge in the Icebrood Saga update.
But he’s quick to add that it won’t be easy. One thing they have to resolve is the wide gap in the skill level between the average and experienced players. He cited as an example of the damage per second metric.
Hardcore players will have 10x the damage per second output compared to the average players. The challenge for developers, therefore, is how to find the sweet spot where everybody walks out satisfied.
If they buff the DPS, hardcore players might not like that the damage they inflict is reduced. That means all their hard work would have nothing. Nevertheless, Zadorojny assured that it’s not an insurmountable challenge. As he said, they have a few tricks to make Icebrood Saga both challenging and approachable at the same time.
The release date for the Guild Wars 2 Icebrood Saga is just around the corner. Considered to be the 5th Season of the Living World, the update was announced on Aug. 30, 2019. The first taste of the Icebrood Saga is Bound by Blood. It’s a prologue that will be launched on Sept. 17, 2019.
In Bound by Blood, the prologue will take you to a new location, the Grothmar Valley. It’s also going to be the first map for the Guild Wars 2 Icebrood Saga.
Episode 1 of the Icebrood Saga will take you to the Shiverpeak Mountains, particularly in Far Shiverpeak. It used to be the home of Ebon Vanguard and norn. Of course, the norn had to go south following the awakening of Jormag. The region is now abandoned except for the icebrood.
Far Shiverpeaks will play a large role in the Icebrood Saga since it’s where the Eye of the North can be found. You will unravel the mystery of the Eye of the North when you play Icebrood Saga and Blood Legion Homelands.
The Guild Wars 2 Icebrood Saga will center on the char and norn as they fight for survival against Jormag.
