Chaos has ensued over the framerate of GTA 6, and one thing is clear from all those pissed-off comments: 30 FPS ain’t going to do it. One recent tweet did set the whole board on fire as masses of gamers demanded that the performance must be prioritized over visuals when it comes to the supposed PS5 Pro.

The gist of the original tweet was that the game must at least grant players the option to push 40FPS on current consoles, arguing that locked frame rate of 30 is “disappointing” no matter how beautiful the game is. The argument was that current-gen hardware, especially the PS5 Pro, should have the wherewithal to push for a higher framerate at some expense to resolution.

Others conversely feel a different way. Some players, among whom @lolbrandon_ counted himself, just passed on the argument and stated their opinion that they have been okay with 30FPS since the ROCKSTAR games, such as GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. Then there are voices like @thrawnftw, who argued that most console players are really unaware of what they are missing, as PC players have really enjoyed buttery smooth framerates all these years.

The icing on the cake. @DetectiveSeeds issued a fiery backlash claiming that collaboration between Rockstar and PlayStation engineers has assured that GTA 6 will surely hit 60FPS at least on the current PS5 Pro. If true, then this suggests there are possibly multiple graphical options at launch, performance modes included. Speculation for now unless Rockstar confirms anything.

Meanwhile, the dialogue carries on. In 2025, @animus_agent and his ilk will discriminate against anything below 60FPS, whereas @_rizzardofoz foresees Rockstar sticking to 30FPS to emphasize visuals—leaving a bit of elbow room to go back and make an ‘enhanced’ edition later.

Where does that leave us? Divergent gamers aside, one count-one thing they want: bigger. Throw us Rockstar-brand 30 or 40 or 60FPS, and GTA6 is going to be a whole lotta cuddle smooth in motion. Based on how things look, the wait might just be dragged into the eleventh hour.

And so, the wait-and-argue game continues on Twitter.
