Sony has just dropped the Ghost of Yōtei Collector’s Edition, and gamers are split between those who’re hyped and those who’re just outright furious. Packed to the brim with in-game goodies and amazing replicas to show off to the world, the absence of a physical disc has the gamers uttering keyboard-warriorisms at the highest.
Ok, then first off, let’s just break down what’s really inside this thing: the Collector’s Edition-the exclusive in-game items, some sweet replicas to physically flex on your shelf, and… a digital copy of the game. Yep, where it gets messy is that there’s no disc. A number of collectors really can’t get past that.
The replies to the PlayStation tweet flooded in faster than anyone could finish a Call of Duty match on launch day. There were many others who stood their ground about the absence of the physical copy. @yomomspaghetti: “No disc? Not buying.” And honestly? Same vibe.
While at it? Pricing drama. @RoussoIsaac stated that the Collector’s Edition must be around 300-400 dollars in Australia, and he sighed… Even @jaoliveira1987 had to pass and said, “R$ 400,00 nisso ai? Não, obrigado.”
Well, not everybody’s mad. @Abdul_charming had the chillest view of it: “All of you complaining about no physical disc with the collectors, You could choose not to buy though. It is not like they are holding you at gun point.” Fair. But also, gamers love to complain-it’s pretty much a hobby.
Then there are bigger arguments about why Sony did not toss in a disc. @CanadianZar and @Rambo_Hairstyle went back and forth on supply chain stuff, Rambo arguing that managing two SKUs (one with a disc, one without) is a nightmare. Meanwhile, however, @YVNGN1NG3N dropped it cold: “Why are they making collector’s editions for people who don’t collect in the first place?” Oof.
And they open the floor for a few side chats. @Marc53078 wants a Ghost of Tsushima movie (without a doubt), and meanwhile, @DrDanielCGrace is wondering, will it even come to PC. What’s your word, Sony?
It looks like this Ghost of Yōtei Collector’s Edition accomplishes the one thing that every other Collector’s Edition has ever done, and that is splitting the fanbase. Some gamers who are ready to spend some serious cash on those sweet, sweet replicas. Others? They sit back waiting for a price cut or at least a physical copy. We can see where the hype (and chaos) is directed.
So, are you going to be storing cash into this Collector’s Edition or not? Either way, the talk is pure entertainment.
