Star Wars aficionados and Fortnite grinders flip their caps now, as the far, far galaxy again smacks into the Battle Royale island. And this one? They will carry in this baddest Jedi of all time with a purple lightsaber. That is to say: Mace Windu is officially dropping into Fortnite on 9 May at 8 pm ET, and the leaks will not stop.
Let me stop you before that price is in your way. The Mace Windu skin is basically 1,500 V-Bucks, I mean really? Not bad for a legendary Jedi Master who almost went single-handedly against Palpatine. But wait-a-minute; there’s more. For those who want to savor this in the fullest (because half-hearted acts reek of Sith Lords), there will be a bundle released by Epic for 2,000 V-Bucks, which will feature the skin and some cool stuff. We shall discuss those soon.
Accessories! What is a Jedi without his stuff? The pickaxe, obviously his purple lightsaber, costs 800 V-Bucks, with back bling, an emote, and wrap each clocking in at around 300. So that’s about 3,400 V-Bucks for the full Samuel L. Jackson experience. A little high, but then, when did it ever get cheap to be a Jedi?
This was not the first time Star Wars creeped into Fortnite. We had Kylo Ren, Rey, and even Darth Vader stomping around the island. But Mace Windu? Now that is the big thing. He’s not just any Jedi; he’s the guy who K.O-ed a Sith-filled room and basically said, “Y’all wanna go?” And do not forget, we are talking about the very same dude who allegedly got chucked out of a window by Palpatine (allegedly-we still think he survived).
The leak came from @SpushFNBR, who’s pretty much on the ball when it comes to intel for Fortnite. So unless Epic pulls a last-minute switcheroo (which, well, they have done before), better start saving your V-Bucks.
And speaking of saving, you’ll want to be checking the Item Shop come May 9 if you want to rake in the full set. Epic might throw a discount on the bundle, at least to lessen the blow for your wallet. If they don’t, well, this is Mace freakin’ Windu we’re talking about. Worth it? Probably.
So, mark that down; set alarms; start practicing your Jedi mind trick. Purple is gonna be everywhere on Battle Royale island come May 9.
