Alright then the rumors were true; Fortnite is performing a match-up with One Punch Man, with something going to be announced in the course of today. I mean, really, what with the fake leaks or whatever yesterday-hype is the real thing!
The huge leak came from HYPEX, who is almost on the throne as king of Fortnite leaks, announcing the bombshell that the One Punch Man collaboration was taking place today. His Tweet reads simply: “ONE PUNCH MAN x FORTNITE GETS REVEALED TODAY,” with a link, and seriously? The comment section is crazy in here at the moment.
They’re losing their minds. One says, “let´s fuking go!! the new update is here for the next day!! Fortnite x One Punch Man😎😎,” and I feel that same energy back at him. The hype is palpable. But then a little bit of confusion sets in, as some apparently thought the announcement should have been done yesterday. TheSPLAGames responds, “Wasn’t it meant to be yesterday? Or the day before??,” so that just tells you that things have gotten a little disorganized with timing.
But the general mood is 100 percent hyped. The speculations concerning what will come next are already starting. One commenter says, “Then bleach and others afterwards,” meanwhile someone else is begging for, “Chainsaw man next 🙏😭.” So, the line of anime collaborations probably won´t end anytime soon.
What is funny, though, is some people asking about One Punch Man. Somebody asked why he’s called One Punch Man when he’s kicking in the picture, and the answers are hilarious. One answered, “Because he can destroy anything with any of his attack from fart, sneeze, punch, kick etc.,” which is… technically correct? Then another one simply said, “Beacuse he beats anyone with a one punch, man,” which is as straightforward as it gets.
When exactly it’s going to arrive in Fortnite is also wildly confusing. Answers range from “Like in 12 hours” to “Maybe in 6 or 7,” so basically, everyone still waits. The time zones here are making a mess, as SoulHuntriX explained to a really confused redditor: “Timezones. Soo today.”
Another interesting takeaway is seeing the extent of the people’s investment in the collaboration. These are never ordinary skins; people truly are excited to get Saitama in Fortnite. One person commented, “One punch man to fn is finna be wild.” And they ain’t wrong. Just imagine being literally one-punched in the whole of Fortnite. That would be both hilarious and terrifying.
And then we got the usual madness of Fortnite. Someone says, “That’s what you said for the past season bro,” meaning HYPEX has been teasing this for quite some time.
“Go to sleep bro” was said, and that probably is the best advice for some who are staying up too late.
The speculations regarding the content of the collab are all around. Would it be just Saitama skin? Or maybe Genos? How about that cape? Is there an emote for the punch where everything just explodes? There’s a plethora of possibility, and they’re all things players are eagerly awaiting to see.
Keep in mind; this is not even the first anime collaboration for Fortnite-Naruto, Dragon Ball, and some others have been there. But One Punch Man is quite a bit different. It has such a distinctive philosophy actually, and the feeling that Saitama is bored because he’s way ahead in power can translate into really funny moments in the game.
This is interesting, especially considering Fortnite’s current season is in full swing already; dropping a mega collab on top of it will be an invitation to a completely new wave of players. One Punch Man does have a gigantic fanbase, and being able to play as Saitama in Fortnite is for sure going to keep the rollers for the big draws.
One fantastic thing about this is seeing the community being bonded by this. People are spending time sharing their excitement, cracking jokes, and just buzzing about this. Even the confusion about the timing is kind of cute- they’re just all trying to nail down when they can finally see Saitama in the item shop.
With all this frenzy, I am sure Epic Games will soon be rubbing their hands forbiddingly… The border collab, well if this is any indication, is gonna line their pockets with money. The reply section is glowing with positivity and exuberance.
Gifting the skin to their mates has already been mentioned by some, whereas one of them asks, “So will you gift me bro? 🥲,” which is, in a way, saddening. This is about to give the Fortnite gifting economy one hell of a workout.
This probably is going to be one reveal that will make the internet go haywire or maybe just the Fortnite part of it-the gamers have been waiting for this while the leak just confirmed what everybody has been praying for. So now, just the actual reveal is left to show what will be on there for sure.
Is there going to be a gamemode? A limited-time event, perhaps? Or just plain skins and a few cosmetics? As it is, the Fortnite x One Punch Man collaboration is shaping up to be one of the most exciting crossovers ever, at least, based on how people responded so far and the timing just could not have been better.
