So yeah, the Rocket League x One Punch Man collab that was set to drop today… never came to be. Players were pumped up and so ready to drop serious cash on that Saitama mobile, but nope–delay with zero explanation. Just poof. Gone.
The news came through leaker iFireMonkey basically stating, “Yeah, it’s delayed, and we don’t know why,” which is like… great, thanks for that highly descriptive briefing, dude. But in all honesty, that’s how these things roll sometimes in the gaming world-one day you expect to punch balls into goals with anime power; the next, you find yourself sitting, refreshing the item shop like an actual clown.
And the response? Man, the responses are a mood! Some folks were genuinely upset, like Emmanuel Ramirez saying, “What a bummer 😭”, which, dude, same. Others took to humor: “It’s cuz I need more time to earn v bucks lol”, a sadly very relatable statement amongst us all, scraping together those last few coins before a big drop.
And then there’s the real tea: ADCArtAttack came through airing some real grievances about Rocket League’s quality lately: “I been playing Rocket every day… I’m so sad about the cheap quality of cosmetics and additions this game gets. Weird is how this whole thing unfolded, truly. Items were supposed to be in the game files ready to go…and then…nothing happened. Naitcamc spotted that, “The GOALS tab in RL shop going to leave in 20 min approx., maybe the car enter the shop after that?” But nope. No dice. Radio silence from Epic. Which is kinda their thing nowadays, if we’re being honest.
And I really want to touch on that matchmaking comment ADCArtAttack made again because that is a huge issue raised every time. Ever since Epic took over Rocket League, players have been complaining about how bad the content updates are and how bad matchmaking is. When you get consistently paired up with people way better than you or way worse, it just ruins the entire experience. And the cosmetics? Honestly, some of them have been the worst—as if a toddler made them.
And back to that One Punch Man delay-is just Rocket League being Rocket League. Remember when they used to delay entire seasons? Or just add new functionality that simply didn’t work? These days, that’s the norm. And that stings because Rocket League used to be one of the most reliable titles around.
What’s peculiar is how different this is from Fortnite collabs. When Fortnite does a crossover, there are weeks of hype, trailers, and announcements. But Rocket League just kinda… drops things? Or doesn’t drop them, in this case. There’s no communication, no “hey sorry we need to push this back,” just silence. And the players are left guessing.

The less hyped stuff does just appear without a hitch.
At the end of the day, Rocket League players just want cool cars to drive around and hit balls with. One Punch Man collab looks cool based on leaks-aesthetic decals and probably a special goal explosion. But while we wait, we refresh. And wait.
So, when is it going to drop? Well, some say with the next update on the 26th based on Fortune data collected by ToupouButtercup. Others seem to feel that it will indeed come alongside that OPM event offence later this month. But really? Your guess is as good as mine. Or iFireMonkey’s. Or just about anyone else’s.
The insane thing is how much the playerbase cares about this kind of stuff. These cars carry an enormous emotional investment. People calibrate their budgets for gaming around it, hype themselves up for new content, and then get gutted when it turns out not to be there. It’s an entire bit.
Anyway, until Epic decides to communicate with their player base (don’t hold your breath), we’re all just sitting here waiting for Saitama to punch his way into Rocket League. In fact, hopefully, sooner rather than later, because my credits are burning a hole in my pocket!
