Players, hold your horses, for this season surely is a thrill. A couple of ridiculous things in Utopia City that seemed to hint at the Bug Invasion of Season 4 and Mini-season 2 themed after… The Simpsons? One more time! The leaks went out from @SentinelCentral and @djlorenzouasset, and the Internet has been in a frenzy ever since.
To start: Bug Invasion. The poster is very vague with not many things revealed, and players were already screaming wild theories. Some speculate it might tie in with the Zero Shard storyline; others suppose it may tie in with the Last Reality faction lined-up against the Otherside foe. Some are even joking (or maybe seriously pitching) about a possible Helldivers 2 crossover as killing-bugs is a strong theme in that game. One gamer is talking of an old Chapter 1 event, kind of like Tomato Head “released bugs into Durr Burger” back then, and the factions were put against each other in a mini war. Stories of yore!
The mini-season is The Simpsons. This has created a whole mixed bag of reactions. There is the excited crowd: “My dad and I will be in heaven for sure,” with loads of hype attached. On the other hand, there are those higher than Marge disapproving of Homer’s newest doughy scheme losing their minds. The only question that matters is: are we him with the gameplay? Or is he there bossing the medallion around? (Axzey´ll find that really hard to take). And oh, they better keep all those wet-live-event predictions on their toes, with one already on the books for “power plant meltdown.” Classic Springfield jamming.
Not everyone is too happy, of course. The reactions are a mixed bag of “LOCK IN: THIS IS PEAK” and “games ruined” energies, with a few players still salty toward previous collaborations (cough Star Wars seasons cough) and some just hoping these bugs won’t be, well, just giant bugs with no lore. “Make them human-like or connected to the story, or it’s a hard pass,” one player protested. Fair.
And hey, let’s not forget the elephant in the room—why go with a Simpsons mini-season NOW? Is Fortnite’s way of saying: “You thought Star Wars was wild? Hold my Duff Beer”? Anyway, it smells like a circus. Be it for the bugs or the yellow-skinned icons or just the memes, Season 4 doesn’t seem to have a dull moment in its itinerary.
So eyes wide open, gamers. Utopia City has got some secrets tucked away, and you know Epic is just about to start dropping breadcrumbs. Or donuts. (Simpsons reference-must.)
