Unlike the leaked image circulating very much on social networks, which announced a significant change on the island-with flooded parts, new points of interest, and what seems to suggest serious waters-based gameplay on the cards-that could include boats and even swimming mechanics. The whole vibe is giving intense post-apocalyptic Atlantis and honestly? Here for it.
Normally, when something like that leaks, Epic’s super quick about taking it down, but this is gaining momentum. Official news doesn’t exist yet, but perhaps the length of time it has gone without being taken down means it’s either a controlled leak (what do you know-from buzz) or some snoozer was muddled up at Epic. Players have gone straight into pixel-picking, either way.
There is one thing that’s sure: this is legit, then be the win-changing Season 3. Literally. It seems to give the impression of hitting some sort of disaster into-the-book sense within the game’s context, which is good on behalf of Fortnite’s whole “world-altering event” schtick. Such as the volcanic eruption? Remember when everything was sucked up into the black hole? Yeah, it certainly feels like a lot of chaos, only so much more watery.
And let’s speak about some of those new places-the ocean seems to be harboring an enormous agency-like structure right in the middle, what looks like some sort of floating platform situation, and some underwater ruins maybe. If that isn’t crying out “new loot spots and secret challenges,” nothing will. Speculations ran high among players about possible hidden bosses, treasure hunting, and-of course-how this will fit into the continuing saga. Because, let’s be realistic, Fortnite’s lore is ridiculous, praise be.
But here is the thing then. Thousands of websites are jumping all over those Fortnite leaks, but this appears to be a different ballgame. The level of detail, the velocity with which it’s spreading-without getting nuked by Epic’s lawyers…it has the smell of authenticity. And if that is the case, then we are looking at the biggest revamps of the map since Chapter 2 began:
