Epic Games have pulled the plug on a major update for competitive Fortnite. “Bass Boost Gloves, Krypto Treats, and the Tracking Visor have been disabled in all Fortnite tournament modes,” the developers said. A casual gamer shouldn’t be bothered by this, as these items remain in Rank.
Now, what are these items? The Bass Boost Gloves have been heavily talked about lately, really carrying players up into the air for easy kills. Krypto Treats are weird little consumables that give you temporary buffs. And the Tracking Visor? Oh, it is just like wall-hacking so the cries of the comp players can’t go unheard.
The official Twitter account for Fortnite announced this, and chaos spread ever since. Some players rejoiced, like @3wrIdz who said, “Fr im constantly dying to those bass boost people fling em in the air then get free beams it’s so dumb.” Others like @elapsefnt were completely questioning the decision, tweeting, “tracking visor aint vaulted.”
Then, there were the confused ones. @VideogameFan1 asked, “How do you even get Crypto?” (Bro, same.) The conversation was high-pitched while the international diaspora debated in many languages-German, Spanish, you name it! @kha0rz added jokingly-“exclusive: no quitarán las construcciones next season!”
But there lies the question itself—why disable them in tournaments while not in Ranked? @duzzaiFN said it best: “If only they removed it from ranked 💔 idk why ranked isn’t the same settings as tournaments anyway.” Honestly, fair point. If something’s broken in comp, why let it slide Into Ranked?
Until they release the full explanation, the one thing you can surmise with certainty: they’re trying to balance the competitive scene. Maybe those items were just too big a disruptor in the high-stakes matches. Or maybe players found glitches to leverage them in ways that the devs did not anticipate. The fact remains: this means Epic is still listening—maybe just not to perfection yet.
This means tournament grinders will now adjust accordingly; no free wallhacks and sing-along-as-you-go-ups will be thrown to the stratosphere. So, eh, daftly Ranked are carving fun out of them.
What’ll be next? Considering the sort of tweak they came up with for these items, will they eventually align Ranked and tournament settings? That remains an open question for now, but what we are sure of is how Fortnite’s meta keeps rotating, and players will forever discover new ways to dominate—or whine on Twitter, of course.
Either way, stay tuned for more updates-the-Epic-way.
