All aboard the hype train for Elden Ring Nightreign! Oh wait, are they all aboard? Seems like not everyone is on board. The recent tease from Bandai Namco on the game’s much-anticipated magic-soaked reality-bending gameplay has left the fans divided-some are pre-ordering, others are just calling it a cash grab. So what is all about Nightreign, and wherefore players are split?

First, the tweet itself is pure FromSoftware poetry: “Through a mind unbound, shape the very essence of reality to your will. Magic courses through your veins, a tide unrelenting, bound for triumph.” Dramatic? You bet. Effective? You bet. The attached media shows off what looks like a spellcaster class glowing with arcane energy and fans already frothing at the mouth.

However, there is always someone who is not impressed. User SimTechReviews dropped the hottest take, calling Nightreign a “money grab” and a “clone” of Elden Ring with “just one more person added.” That sure hit hard. This triggered an immediate firestorm in the replies.

Some, like Charlie.S², would counter that reusing assets doesn’t make it a clone, especially if it’s set in the same universe. Others, like HaxanBelial, went for an even softer attack: “I really don’t like this game, but definitely not a clone.” Then there’s black_lotus_656, who kept it short and brutal: “cry more lmao.”

So, the hype squad is out there in full costumes. Raven_Fall580 loves the beta and will main this class until we get an actual samurai. (We’re looking at you, Adrotitodraws, asking for that samurai reveal.) G0dgrave finds major vibes there, lauding the character’s “voice and accent,” and DragonHeartz is already calling it a GOTY contender.

Then there’s the chaotic middle ground. Ukrainian Gundam asks, “How many of those who wrote really nice comments will actually play the game?” Fair enough. SUNDAI has another thing to say: “DLC 3” is something that he’d rather have. And how could we forget that legendary line by badboykola: “easy mode or we ain’t buying.” (Apparently according to XRoiV, Sorcery is easy mode).

And then there are the replies in Arabic which are pure gold. YS_160 and firasD23’s thread of “ههههههههههههه” (translation: “hahahahaha”) has that kind of unhinged energy we live for.

But in the end, what to make of it? It’s either going to be a brilliant expansion or a lazy rehash, depending on whom you ask. Either way, the discussions are chef’s kiss entertaining. Pre-orders are live, the magic looks sick, and the fanbase is as divided as ever. Classic FromSoftware moment.
