The video teaser NVIDIA came up with for the game Dune Awakening has left gamers going mad. The second tweet from NVIDIA flaunts Multi Frame Generation with the promise of buttery smooth visuals for the survival MMO much-starved for a harsh desert world from Frank Herbert. And yes, hype is very much on.
The clip released by @RevolutionAndre showcases some of the NVIDIA RTX magic running with Dune Awakening on top. Sandstorms, giant worms, and what seemed like the first sightings of player-made structures sailed through a wonderfully smooth montage while some players with eagle eyes noticed an odd little crunch. One reply from @Master0fCS hypothesized, *”Why did it say DOOM Dark Ages at the beginning, editor made a mistake 😁”*—okay. Somebody might have slipped up in editing, but the actual gameplay footage? Pure Arrakis vibes.
Also, some folks hated the tech. Then @Hells_Assailent interjected with “Oh boy more fake frames…”—a very typical skeptical sentiment about DLSS frames generated through AI. Meanwhile @DadModeGG had heavier complaints about NVIDIA driver updates failing endlessly and threatening to jump to AMD. Oof. Not a great week for the green team, I think.
Most of the replies, however, said otherwise, raining hype. Hashtags #GeForceSummer and #RTXOn filled the thread, while players like @Hestisdabest commented, “Game looks good!” Couldn’t agree more. The desert scenes, dynamic lighting, and those classic Dune landscapes are already conversing on the technical side of DLSS 4.
Putting survival mechanics with full-scale MMO warfare on a planet where everything conspires to kill you for life, Funcom’s Dune Awakening has been a subject ever since. NVIDIA is pushing the game so hard into the cutting-edge graphics, and really it deserves that—a kind of world asks for so much detail. Giant worms don’t render themselves, y’all.
While no firm release date has been revealed, it seems increasingly evident that the steady flow of information and this trailer will make Dune Awakening one of the next most ambitious survival games to launch in 2024. With DLSS 4 on the menu, player heaven for anyone with an RTX card on PC, else it’s time for the rest of them to start saving. Spice will flow, and so shall the Dune glasses.
So, yeah—sand, shields, and AI-generated frames. Welcome to Arrakis: NextGen Edition. But watch out for driver updates.
