Steam is giving away the Age of Wonders 3 for free in celebration of the anticipated release of Planetfall.
But that’s not all. Steam is also offering a 10% discount for those who download the Age of Wonders 3 when they buy the Planetfall Premium Edition.
The free download is good for a limited time only. In fact, it’s only available from July 11 to July 15.
Age of Wonders is a turn-based RPG game that was developed by Epic MegaGames and Triumph Studios. In the game, there are 12 races to choose from. There are humans, dark elves, lizardmen, elves, orcs, halflings, trolls, goblins, dwarves, highmen, frostlings, and Azracs.
There are also giants, dragons, and other monsters in the game although those are not playable. Your chosen race will determine on what side of the force you are–whether you are for good or evil. But you can also choose to be neutral, which means you are not taking sides in this high-stakes game.
There are many nuances to the game that you will find out for your own the longer you play it. For instance, some races are not very friendly with each other. Taking over one city needs a lot of strategies because aggression is not always the answer. If orcs will conquer elves, for example, you can’t expect peace because they will always stage a coup.
If you want to exist in harmony with your neighbors, a lot of diplomacy and goodwill is needed. Just an example, approaching another race bearing gifts will go a long way than trying to loot or raze their city.
The Age of Wonders 3 is the sequel to the turn-based strategy game. Of course, by this time, the stakes are higher, and the objectives are more challenging. It’s presumed that you already played Age of Wonders and Age of Wonders 2 and already familiar with the universe.
You have the opportunity to rule your own kingdom and choose to become either a Sorcerer, Rogue, Archdruid, Theocrat, Dreadnought, or Warlord. Each class will have its own skills and abilities.
But you need allies to fortify your position. You can choose from among the Humans, Dwarves, Goblins, Elves, Draconians, and Dwarves. One wrong decision can spell disaster for your city.
