Now, Guardians, shed those Light level numbers because the trials are back again: the Rite of the Nine. It is now there as a test of your skills–or to really just showcase the god-rolls you got your hands on over the last couple weeks.
Now, what is really going on? The Nine-the cosmic enigmas who value cryptic messages and Trial-of-Osiris-endweek-are now gracing humanity with yet another trial. It appears they want to test your mettle this time. No pressure! Just pop over to The Emissary in Eternity. (A probably shadowy vendor who surely knows more than she lets on) And get on with it.
If you are one of those awe-struck souls wondering, “What the heck is it?” Well, don’t worry: you are not the only one wondering. The Nine has always been… well, vague. I mean, kind of “why use five words when fifty cryptic ones will do” kind of vague. But it seems from what we can put together that The Rite of the Nine is some sort of new activity or quest line related to their whole vibe. Maybe it is a player or team scenario-Out! And Bungie is still remaining so tight-lipped about it.
Clockwise: This comes mid-wash by the player in the current season grind, hunting for loot, perhaps still in concurrent recovery from last being raided. Purely a coincidence? Most likely not. Bungie just loves to keep us busy, and this feels like one more way to hook the Guardians even just before their next major expansion-season rollout.]
Rewards? An initial briefing arrived without any mention of them. Without them? It could be gear; could be lore; well, I guess bragging rights-for custom! If history serves as an example, things related to The Nine usually end with some extremely majestic loot-or at least an emblem to flaunt.
For the lore nerds out there (you know who you are), here might be a few answers on The Nine’s whole deal. Or, more likely, it’ll add another layer of riddles to sort out. Either way, we go.
So let’s gear up, assemble your fireteam, or take the solo and independent route; we don’t judge. Get ready to prove yourself while The Nine keep searching, not easily bowling over with self-pity antics.
