The Destiny 2 server charts glowing images of ominous grandeur, maybe a weapon or an artifact. The style just screams, “Remember when Destiny’s lore was truly mysterious?” Yeah, so we do. So, if this goes somewhere, then hype it.

This leak, first spotted by @Bungie_Leaks- how on earth do they do it?- could very well be the next Destiny 2 expansion or seasonal drop. The title Year of Prophecy, though, has generated wild theories among fans: some say it has something to do with Osiris really coming back, and others think maybe it really is time for finally the Vex. And some others are just shouting, “More Cabal, please,” because there are just some people who love their space rhinos.

Bungie is silent for now–unusual for them–which, on the one hand, might mean they are now hard at work on an official announcement, or on the other hand, sipping coffee while chaos erupts everywhere. I honestly cannot decide who’s the more likely. Bungie has been doing well recently with seasonal content, so if this is the real deal, then it means another real good memory is in the making.

So now for the real image: … Kinda cryptic? Glowing symbols, an ominous background, and in the middle, what could be a weapon or an artifact. The art just screams, “Hey, remember when Destiny’s lore was really mysterious?”-yeah, we do. And we miss it. So, if this is going back to that sort of vibe, then we are so down with that.

Therefore, one must take this kind of leak for what it is. PlayStation Store listings have been wrong before (Remember when Elden Ring was supposed to drop January 2021? Yeah…). Now, at least, judging by the standard Bungie content drop schedule, this one kind of fits. It’s time for a huge drop, and Year of Prophecy sure seems like the sort of big title Bungie likes to put on their expansions.

And what will come next? Probably came with little to no delay for official announcements and maybe even the trailer. The speculations will then start, datamining will begin, and at least one poor soul will say they have beaten the raid before its release. Classic Destiny community.

So, for the moment, all that needs to be done is to wait. And refresh Bungie Twitter every five seconds. Just in case.

Oh, and for any Guardians still bitter about sunsetting? Yeah, this ain’t gonna change anything. But on the upside, new loot is new loot.
