Cyberpunk 2077 has to be the most anticipated game of 2019. Keanu Reeves shocking reveal at this year’s E3 gave us a glimpse at how much care its developers are putting into the game: Nobody knew Keanu would end up being a major part of the game, and it was a kept a secret for years.
But as we get closer and closer to its eventual release, even more details are coming out about how much CD Projekt Red (the developers behind the game) are putting into Cyberpunk 2077. Just this week, gamers found out that CD Projekt Red had hired a number of actual professional city planners to help them create the in-game Night City, where the Cyberpunk 2077 game takes place. It seems like developers are committed to bringing their fans the most realistic game possible.
None of that should be surprising to anyone who is familiar with CD Projekt Red: The developers are also famous for the production of the Witcher series and their last game, The Witcher 3, ended up being one of the most popular role-playing games in recent memory.
Of course, Night City is said to be a smaller map than the maps fans found in The Witcher 3, but there is also going to be a lot more going on. The maps for Night City are going to be denser with multi-level buildings covering almost everything. So there will be potentially a lot more going on than there was in The Witcher.
That is where the city planners come in. During a conference at the PAX West Gaming Conference, developers revealed they had hired the city planners to create the real feel of a city. There are all sorts of landmarks and structures that will help produce that unique organic feeling.
CD Projekt Red surprised everyone at this year’s E3 when Keanu Reeves walked out on stage after being shown in the latest trailer. Keanu will be playing the character Johnny Silverhand, who is a former rockstar turned soldier in the original Cyberpunk universe. Silverhand made his first appearance at E3. Although there were some hints he was part of the game universe, nobody knew he was going to have such a major role in the game universe.
Cyberpunk 2077 will officially be released next April for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC. Keep posted for more trailers and announcements as the game’s marketing beings to pick up the pace.
