Fighting game crowd, lend me thine ears; Capcom has just let loose some nods to our nostalgia, with Capcom Fighting Collection 2 for PS4. For real, PS4, no typo. This collection contains some of the finest arcade fighters of all time, like Power Stone, Capcom vs. SNK 2 (CvS2) and Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper. If you poured hundreds of quarters into an arcade, this is your digital redemption.

With Capcom Fighting Collection 2 on the PS4, some reactions were pretty much divergent. Some were hyped: “CvS2, peak arcade era hype.”

Others scoffed at the idea of it hitting PS4 in 2024. Matt Linton even asked, “On PS4? What is this, 2017??” Stinging, but right… Come on, these games are older than some of y’all reading this. What does a PS4 release mean for these guys? That’s the least of crimes.

Then you have the physical copy gang. John Connor (quite possibly not the Terminator) said, *”Great games, now let me buy a physical copy in UK…”* Capcom, why do we have to join you on the DLC side? And David G. assures, *”I’ll wait for it to be on sale.”* Silva, say less. I feel literally—economy is brutal right now and $40 for nostalgia? After rent.

Talking games, anyone? Power Stone? Utter chaos in the very best way. As Aaron said, *”Power stone was dope. Mfers whine bout everything.”* Preach. That game was pure, unhinged fun—throwing furniture, transforming into superpowered versions of yourself, just pure arcade madness. Byron.C fairly expressed, *”Man the memories with Power stone 🥹”*. Yeah, we feel you.

And then interesting responses arose. ETack was complaining about write speeds: *”your a billion dollar company and can’t up the write speed on your damn console”*; okay… what? Another guy demanded that PlayStation fixes Arma Reforger mods instead. Sir, this is a Capcom tweet.

Obviously, here followed the regional pricing complaints. Lu’Cie dryly wrote *”Regionalización de precios para Latinoamérica”* (“regional pricing for Latin America” for those who don’t speak Spanish). Valid comment. Gaming is expensive anywhere you go, but especially so in regions where prices are not adjusted for local economies.

Then you have random demands, such as this guy yelling about Stellar Blade’s region lock: *”Remove region locking & Denuvo from @StellarBlade on PC!”* Again, Capcom here. Fighting games. Let’s stay on topic, dude.

So, what’s the verdict? For keeping purists looking and, of course, anyone who might feel she or he misses the good old day when arcades smelled of stale pizza and sweat, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is a decent buy. Yes, on PS4. Yes, digital-only (for now?). And yes, maybe wait for a sale if your wallet is crying. But for all who have gone through the golden age of arcade brawlers, this is a time capsule that needs to be cracked open.

Now, if you’d excuse us, we’re off to relive our teenage years getting bodied in CvS2. Again.
