Out of all the Call of Duty installments that have come out over the past several years, the latest Modern Warfare is one of the most successful. It seems Infinity Ward really knew what direction to take this installment, from creating an engaging campaign to keeping players coming back with classic and new multiplayer modes.

The latter is certainly letting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare see a lot of commercial success, even still today in 2020. Fans have even more reason to celebrate as it looks like a fan-favorite mode has been added. That mode is none other than Grind. It made its first appearance back in Call of Duty: Ghosts, a pretty popular game in the series by all accounts.

The premise is pretty great. Each time a player is killed, they drop a dog tag. Opposing players have to grab these tags and bring them to a certain destination, all before being picked off. Those who successfully bring these tags to the designated location score points for their team.

The team with the most points at the end wins the match. Where things get interesting is the return points are the same for both teams. Thus, there are multiple enemy encounters you’ll have to brave before reaching the final destination.

Another interesting design that Grind features is the drop-off locations change throughout the match. So right when you have a good grasp on the pace and layout of the match, everything changes and both teams must scramble to find the new locations.

If you get killed while carrying these dog tags, they drop to the ground. Teammates can quickly swoop them up and continue pursuing the drop-off location, but they have to be careful. There are undoubtedly opponents just waiting to pick you off the closer you get to the tags. You thus have to come up with the perfect strategy, often times requiring some sort of diversion.

Grind may not get as much glory as Team Deathmatch, but it certainly has a lot going for it. Infinity Ward was smart to add it to this latest COD. It’s already an amazing game filled with so much fantastic content. This latest mode should keep the player numbers going strong heading into the new year.
