Yesterday, the fifth and final Fighters Pass DLC roster member was released for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. As previously announced, it was Byleth from the Fire Emblem series.

While many felt let down by Nintendo’s choice in the final fighter for this DLC pack, Byleth comes as part of a large update to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, titled 7.0.0

Byleth is the protagonist for the game Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and comes in both male and female versions. Along with the character comes a new stage that is based off of the school/cathedral featured in Three Houses. Of course, as with previous additions, there will also be new music and Mii Fighter outfits included in the update.

When Smash Bros. does an update like this, it typically extends far beyond just the new character. They tend to make a number of changes to existing characters, tightening up gameplay and enacting improvements where possible.

Some times, character movements are altered, which can impact how specific fighters are controlled, so it’s always a good idea to look into what’s going on with your main fighter when an update the size of 7.0 drops.

Nintendo is adding a number of spirits into the shop on the Vault menu.

This includes:

  • Edelgard
  • Dimitri from Fire Emblem
  • Claude
  • Sothis
  • Rhea
  • Seteth
  • Dorothea
  • Ingrid
  • Hilda from Fire Emblem

There will also be new spirits coming to the Shop and Spirit Board.

They are:

  • Radiant Gleam
  • Kloster
  • Bullet Walker
  • High Line
  • I-Tetrimino
  • T-Tetrimino
  • S-Tetrimino and Z-Tetrimino
  • L-Tetrimino and J-Tetrimino
  • O-Tetrimino

The above are spirits that have appeared in a previous limited time spirit event that is now coming back full time.

There are a number of new outfits and armor being added for purchase as well.

Some of these are:

  • Cuphead Outfit and Hat
  • Altair Outfit and Hood
  • Rabbids Hat
  • Helmet and Armor from MegaMan.EXE
  • X’s Armor and Helmet

On top of that, players will not be able to make videos of replays that contain any DLC they have not purchased. So, if you’re battling online with someone who is using content you haven’t personally gotten, you won’t be able to record it.

Several balance adjustments have been made to the game along with the expected bug fixes that help with the overall experience.

A number of fighters are also seeing some adjustments made, including things like launch distance, shield size, increased power on certain grabs, attack speed, and more.
