That dragon. And this flame is bright. Now Burbank’s pride is the purple dragon, reigning over her like some king hoarding treasure, sitting above a shelf full of merch, with its judgmental eyes watching.
Oh, if you touched that dragon, everybody knows it will burn you.🔥
Bless Blizzard’s official tweet, to show this majestic beast with purple scales and seated on some more “beloved treasures.” No announcements have been made yet whether this dragon will be made available in the Blizzard Gear Store, although considering how much fans go crazy for collectibles, it may not even be long before someone decides to inquire about pre-reserving it.
What really gets me, though, is this dragon, that has the whole personality. Just look at him….I mean, that dragon isn’t judging, it’s judging you. It is very well aware that you’re thinking about touching its loot, and in its head it’s already writing your obituary. That’s Blizzard for you; they make a prop have a whole vibe.
For now, is there any connection back to any existing game? Overwatch really doesn’t deal with dragons (except perhaps if we’re talking Hanzo’s ult, and then that seems a stretch). How about Diablo? Could be. World of Warcraft? Maybe. Or surprise, an early tease for something new! Blizzard loves to keep fans scared. So, who knows?
What we do know is that if the dragon makes it to the shelves, it will sell out faster than you could ever say “LEEROOOOY JENKINS.” Blizzard has always been very strong in its merch game; who could forget the absolutely detailed Sylvanas statue? Or the Overwatch Nerf guns? Yep, perfect fit for this dragon.
Then, of course, there is that shelf-head-scratcher. “Beloved treasures” could mean anything—a prototype of an unannounced CE statue? Maybe rejected designs for a cancelled game? Or, ahem, Blizzard saying in bigger voice, “Yeah, we make some cool stuff. Promise.”
For now, there’s just that one tweet and then a swelling speculation. But, knowing Blizzard, that would mean there was something magical going on with that dragon because they don’t just show dragons for nothing. Until more announcements are made, we will just sit and stare at this purple beast and hold our breath to even touch its treasures.
Spoiler alert: Nope. Dragons don’t do that.
Keep checking Blizzard’s social channels, then—this little guy could be the start of something else entirely. Or, y’know, just a really cool shelf decoration. Either way, we are down for it.
