Bleeding with ecstatic happiness, fans of Diablo IV took in the announcements and held their breath in anticipation: Not only will Belial, yes, THE Belial, Lord of Lies, make his appearance, but a good Developer Update is also offered on April 24 at 11 AM PT. Shot through with dark humor and devilish energy, the announcement was short and sweet, just the way we like it.

If you haven’t brushed up on your Diablo lore (for shame), Belial is one of the Prime Evils, a cunning creature that thrives on its ability to manipulate the masses. Belial’s last show of presence in any form was a minor spat in Diablo III, which went extremely bad for our demon. In Sanctuary, demons remain dead only temporarily, until they rear their ugly heads again to wreak havoc, and it seems Belial is ready to cause his mischief in Diablo IV too.

This leads us to the question-will there actually be a protagonist role for Belial in Season IV? The new boss, maybe? Or some NPC secretly pulling the strings? Blizzard is not telling us, but the teaser sure threw the community into a frenzy.

Developer Update is the other good part. Seasons are hit-or-miss so far in Diablo IV, though Blizzard has been listening to feedback (mostly). This next update could be it, especially if Belial turns up. Are fans hoping for more than just a reskin? New mechanics…? Some actual story content? That class rebalance we’ve been asking for? The speculation is so wild, and honestly, that’s where half the fun is.

Oddly enough, there appear to be no replies to the tweet. Typically, announcements from Diablo are buried under a frenzy of hype, memes, and the occasional complaint about the never-ending demand for more stash space.

But not this time. Maybe they’re too busy theorising on Discord? Or maybe everyone’s just staring at their clocks, counting down to April 24 like it’s Judgment Day (which, in Sanctuary, kinda might be).

One thing we know for sure-Blizzard really knows how to manage the hype. Belial-these are like waving the proverbial red flag in front of the bull of lore nerds. And then attaching him to the Season 4 reveal? Kissed by a chef. Whether or not this update actually delivers, the community is going to tear apart every single frame of that stream.

Mark down tomoorw in red, for Diablo IV is going to have a big day, as bloody as possible for the most fun if Belial has any say in this!
