2020 has been a year filled with a massive amount of chaos, to put it lightly. Looking back on everything that’s happened in the world between December and today is enough to make you wonder how anything is still functioning.

Each month has brought a new event, ranging from global pandemics to nightmarish murder hornets – of which seems to have only been a filler episode, so to speak. One of the most recent events has been the protests sweeping the United States.

The reason for mentioning such events is that there’s been an unavoidable impact from the trials of the year and the gaming community. Hundreds of games have been pushed back, canceled, or otherwise affected by the events of the year.

This is the case for the upcoming reveal for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, a live stream event that Blizzard intends to hold to discuss some of the upcoming events in the next expansion in the World of Warcraft franchise.

Originally set to take place at the start of this month, the reveal was instead postponed. This was primarily due to the fact that the protests over police brutality and racial inequality in the United States were in full swing.

“More important voices than ours need to be heard, and now is the time to listen,” Blizzard had stated during their original announcement via Twitter. “We are postponing our upcoming World of Warcraft: Shadowlands livestream planned for June 9th, and will share more details about the expansion in the future.”

Now, thankfully, Blizzard has announced when they’ll be holding the livestream event. Players should expect to be able to tune in for the event soon on July 8th at 9:00 AM PST.

“We welcome you to join us on Wednesday, July 8 at 9:00 a.m. PDT for our newly rescheduled Shadowlands live stream with World of Warcraft Executive Producer John Hight and Game Director Ion Hazzikostas,” Blizzard announced. “They’ll share more about the upcoming expansion and give you a look at some of the latest content now in development.”

With the new date announced, the fan base is abuzz trying to guess at what will be announced during the new event. There’s already been a great amount of datamining and reveals on the new expansion, so an official drop of new information is incredibly exciting.

Regardless of what may be announced, it’s pushing closer and closer to the release. During the current mid-expansion content drought, virtually every player in the game has their eyes set on the upcoming expansion.
