Obsidian Entertainment gave updates about Living Lands, together with the roadmap for forthcoming changes and new content. The studio leaked some information about these happenings on Twitter to hype up the fans for what was next for the fantasy RPG. And well, gamers do have a lot to look forward to.
So what is really in the roadmap? Well, Obsidian has not actually shared all of the information but linked to the entire breakdown, and of course, that got raided by the fans. New quests, gameplay tweaks; everything seems to be in the cards, and it really does look like the team is taking some major additions to the world of Avowed seriously, weighing some player feedback.
While some fans will be rejoicing, there are… well, not exactly happy. Another user just said flat-out: it was “bland” compared to Obsidian titles like Fallout: New Vegas. Ouch. Others want dynamic weather systems (rain, thunder, thunderstorms, snow classes, immersive stuff). And then is the whole New Game Plus debate—why don’t more RPGs ship with it? It is 2024, after all.
There is the other drama—the console wars. One hundred percent guaranteed to stir up some. Some PlayStation folks had got the roadmap, joking about whether Avowed will ever hit PS5 (spoiler alert: probably never, it’s in Xbox exclusivity). And then on the other side, Xbox fanboys begun fighting over Microsoft’s next acquisition (probably the Ubisoft) and started some mayhem because that is gaming Twitter for you.
That much is for sure: The Avowed community are passionate. Whether they are falling in love with it or roasting the game, they are talking. Now this new roadmap has been handed to them for discussion.
What do we have now? More sensational updates, fiery debate, and memes for days. If you are an Avowed lover, this is your time to get off your backside and jump back in—or experience it for the very first time if you’ve been holding off. Serious action is about to hit the Living Lands.
For the keyboard-and-mouse people, you win this round… Hats off to the devs for the proper KBM support. Celebrate that.
Going to stare at this roadmap now and hope for some surprise dragon update. A guy can dream.
