Having dealt over the past few weeks with mod downloading and storage capacity issues on the console, the lead programmer Buráčisko took to Twitter to share what limitations one can currently face. The response? A mixture of support, skepticism, and just plain demands.

The story goes: The console has a mod storage limit of 25GB. Twenty-five sounds hefty, but from an alleged mod-centric game, Arma Reforger gives very little. For now, players such as @MittsMW2 hope for the increase to come in an update, while others like @Mrrieper1 are outright begging for the storage to be 50 gigs at the very least. They are perfectly reasonable requests, really-if you got an SSD with that much storage, why not let the player use it?

Storage, however, is just another issue. Another issue is how long it takes to go through download speeds on mods across all consoles (and PC@AlexGordn_ thinks). Nevertheless, the developers talked about how constant mod updates-think nearly every day often more than once in a day-were heavier on the SSDs than the analogous conventional game downloads, where it is fewer and bigger. That sounds fair, however, players like @Burgercadt shrug that off, sharing their own experience of endless uninstall-reinstall cycles of full games without hiccups.

Then there’s the matter of stability, with both @Zyrpulse and @RhysKay6 pointing out modded server crashes, @FINAL1DY asking for better performance in general, and @JayBravoX eagerly requesting jets.

Yet another candle in the community’s hands is those given by the devs, who promised to work on the vanilla experience as well as modding support, the idea being a sandbox where people build their own experiences. Great, zeit, but if you provide these mod tools, for sure they will get used, so please bump the storage limit sooner rather than later.

So for now, console players are juggling with their mods, deleting and re-downloading as needed. However, with that much bouncing back and forth, Bohemia Interactive must be thinking about some improvements. Until then? Enjoy juggling that limited space on your SSD.
