Nintendo sent out one super tempting tweet showing off the various eateries in Mario Kart World and letting gamers debate which Yoshi’s restaurant would be their first choice. This tweet gives a cute little POV of how ordering food works in-game and created a frenzy of hungry retorts, peppered with a little bit of grumbling over the price of the game.
So, what exactly are these Yoshi-style restaurants? In Mario Kart World players can stop at any food-cum-hang-out spots with weird menus. Ranging from burgers to sushi to every other weird thing known in the wild races! And as replies go, the burger joint seems to be the clear winner-except for that one comment asking hilariously if any of those were Burger King. (Sorry, no Whoppers here.)
But, it is not all good. Many were complaining about the price of $80, making comments like “The one that doesn’t cost me $80” and “Those who paid $80 for the game probably can’t afford any of them, lol.” Bob’s your uncle. Guess inflation is hitting the Mushroom Kingdom too.
Others seemed to have just been vibing along with the foodie fantasy. One user wanted to know the recipe for a “Triple Bossy Deluxe on a raft, four-by-four animal style,” clearly a reference to something straight out of a SpongeBob episode. Another user asked if they had pizza (because, let’s face it, pizza should be a staple in every game). And then there was the one who outright demanded a cookbook of all in-game recipes. Nintendo, please!
Naturally, somewhere in there, somebody had to ask about the Switch 2. “Wish I knew. Switch 2 has been sold out since the day it was released,” one frustrated gamer stated. “Where’s the Nintendo Direct?” came another clamoring.
Lots of replies make me smile, but the best one has to be the guy who said he’d rather hit the road after working a McDonald’s shift and grind Mario Kart than sleep; respect.
However, if you came for the burgers, or for sushi, or even just to keep complaining about prices, one thing’s for sure: Mario Kart World is getting hungrier. If only those pixelated fries could somehow be praised with our mouths.
So, which Yoshi will you hit first? Burger? Sushi? Or are you still too mad about the $80 to care? Either way, Nintendo got us talking, and maybe salivating, too.
