Xbox Game Pass is getting an incredible lineup in the next few weeks. One in particular that stands out is Alien: Isolation. This survival horror game will be available on February 28, and if you’ve never played it before, you’re in for a terrifying treat.

Developed by Creative Assembly, this game has won an incredible 50 Game of The Year awards. It features Amanda, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, in a modern horror that takes place on the Sevastopol space station. As she desperately searches for an exit, a stalking alien is on the hunt. The slightest noise or misstep will result in her demise.

There’s a lot to say about Alien: Isolation quite honestly. What is most impressive is the real tension it provides players as they carefully creep around the space station. When the alien gets close, you just want to hold your breath and pray it doesn’t come closer. Walking too fast or making too much noise spells the end for most players.

It has been a while since a game has truly terrified players. The tension is enhanced tenfold when playing Isolation in the dark. You really feel like you’re aboard an abandoned space station that’s being stalked by a lethal predator. The game is a huge step up from Aliens: Colonial Marines, which was plagued by bugs and poor character development.

Another highlight is the game’s score and atmosphere. The space station really does seem like something out of the movies. The sense of dread you feel walking from room to room is intense, and the eerie orchestra sets the tone for what awaits. The developers did their homework when designing Alien: Isolation.

The only real criticism many have with this game is its difficulty. There are times when the alien seems to be omniscient. No matter what you do or where you go, somehow the dark predator finds your exact location and ends your progress. It can be frustrating at times.
