World of Warcraft has tons of holidays, ranging from the massive Christmas-themed Winter’s Veil to smaller holidays based around balloons and sightseeing. All of this bring their own perks, exclusive gear, limited edition collectibles, and the like. One of the bigger ones, the Valentine’s Day-themed “Love is in the Air,” will be beginning this coming Saturday, February 8th!
Love is in the Air, like most of the other holidays, is inspired by the real-world holiday of Valentine’s Day, and takes much of the activities from Valentine’s Day traditions. Because of this, much of the holiday is based around romance and gift-giving (as well as getting gifts in return, of course).
It isn’t all hugs and kisses, though. Some dungeon bosses and mobs become prime targets around this time to farm exclusive gear drops, such as the handful of epic drops that get added to Shadowfang Keep. You’ll also want to keep an eye out for some holiday-specific quests that drop a few fun items, like bottles of cologne or city-themed romantic cards.
There’s also plenty of dailies and activities you can do to earn the holiday’s exclusive currency, Love Tokens. You’ll want to farm these as much as possible if you’re hoping to grab some of the more sought-after items, like the two mounts that are available from the Lovely Vendor. The Swift Lovebird, a purple/pink skin of the default Blood Elf mount, will run you 270 tokens. If you’re hoping to grab a few heirloom upgrade scabbards, you’ll need to farm 200 for an Ancient, or 450 for a Timeworn/Weathered.
You can grab a handful of toys from the Lovely Merchant as well. You may want to grab the Love Boat, summonable on bodies of water for a romantic getaway, or the Sturdy Love Fool, which acts as a target dummy for five minutes. Grabbing Peddlefeet’s Lovely Hearthstone will give your hearth animation a more romantic flair to it as well.
If you’re really lucky, you might be able to grab the Big Love Rocket, the second exclusive mount. This mount drops out of the Heart-Shaped Boxes that some mobs will drop, but has a 1/3,333 (or 0.03%) chance of dropping. Once you get it, though, you’ll have it unlocked for every character account-wide!
Blizzard hasn’t been the target of much love lately due to a handful of bad choices, most recent as such being their decision to absolute fail at launching Warcraft III: Reforged. Maybe they’ll be able to find a valentine during the festival that can bring a little much-needed love their way?
