The Digimon franchise first launched in 1997 with a series of portable virtual pets inspired by Tamagotchi toys. The popularity of Digimon led to a manga and anime series, plus video games and various merchandise.

The Digimon news comes thanks to the series celebrating its 20th anniversary. The animated series was first released in March 1999.

The series follows a group of children as they team up with various digital monsters. Through the “DigiDestined,” the Digimon can become more powerful.

In the first season of the animated show, the children are trapped in the world of Digimon. As the series progresses, the Digimon appear on Earth.

The Digimon Project Trailer video begins with Augumon appearing on a Digivice. Augumon is seen as the main Digimon character in the series and makes an appearance on most Digimon-related media.

In the video, Augumon plays with children along with Patamon. Other media Digimon, as appeared in, such as the card game, are also shown. The video ends with a preview of the Digimon’s abilities as they begin to battle.

Digimon Adventure is the latest series to be announced and will launch in Japan this April. It features the DigiDestined from the first series along with their Digimon friends in a modern reboot of the series.

A film is also scheduled to release later this month called Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, which takes place five years after Digimon Adventure tri. The film will be released in Japan and only in select theaters in North America.

The most recently released Digimon title is Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition, which is a combination of two games: Cyber Sleuth and the sequel Hacker’s Memory. The first title initially launched in 2016, followed by the sequel in 2018. The Complete Edition was released on October 18, 2019, by Bandai Namco.
