Xbox dropped some gnarly announcements for the skating faithful: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will hit the Xbox Series X on July 11, major upgrades in tow. 4K visuals. Yes. Smooth-as-butter 120FPS gameplay. Yes. Hold on; that’s hitting your nostalgia now. There may never be a grander first-day Game Pass ever that allowed all subscribers to grind through these classics. It’s Quick Resume and Xbox Play Anywhere, too. For those who have gone Cloud, it means you get to fit Kickflip limbo time on your phone during lunch hours.

Not everybody got pumped, though. Being somewhat of a mixed bag of hype and salt, reactions are stirring. A bunch of such gamers make fun of Microsoft, more so because of highlighting hardware that is not available across markets. Expressing frustration at the console-hunters in regions like Spain, @WhitX_ stated, “Promoting the Series X without stock on the official website 🤦🏻♀️.” Next up is @HazzadorGamin, throwing shade over Xbox’s price hikes and stating that PS5 Digital is a better deal. @Bear_MateGaming might as well cry doom from the mountaintops: “Eat your fcking money and close every studio.” Yikes.

In the meantime, some are here for the games. @Wadey9971 came back with: “Cool story but for the 30+ million who already have an Xbox, we’ll look forward to the game,” for the haters. @MiaGamplayerOficial🇧🇷🎮 went on with the positive side: “I love Xbox + Game Pass.”

Some performance-related concerns arose. @GfanRp called out Quick Resume—the big feature of the Series X—saying it never is fully reliable, crashing even for Baldur’s Gate 3. While @marcel_hoskins made a clear call out: “Make ALL games 60fps from now on.” Preach.

The timing of this announcement is… rather interesting. While the layoffs and studio closures have put Xbox in a bad light, a few replies simply could not resist chipping in with a few shadows: @Attila_Tailor asked, “How many layoffs happened since you posted this??” while @shinseiya joked, “And the next studio to close is …………” Oof.

For the Tony Hawk fans, this announcement is huge. Being such a legendary franchise, finally seeing 3 + 4 with all these modern upgrades is a dream come true. Now the question is: Will this make a big enough distraction from all the Xbox drama lately? Well, the critics would most certainly say no, but certainly so for the skaters out there who are trying to relive some youth.
