Time Flies is one of the newest PS5 offerings and has already ruffled many feathers on the internet. Players essentially find themselves trapped as a housefly with a sort of bucket list to fulfill before time runs out; needless to say, some of the reactions of gamers to the game have indeed been quite weird: some are hyped, sometimes really confused, and others are just feasting on the memes.
The idea…is interesting. You are a fly. Not a superhero, not a soldier, and certainly not some cute little being for you to cuddle with. Just a boring housefly trying to make the best out of its short, buzzy life. The official PlayStation Twitter had this to say: “You’re a fly 🪰 Make every second of your life count and complete your bucket list.” And honestly? That is some real talk if you want to go deep. Or maybe just silly. Who is to say?
Now, the Internet couldn’t stop talking. While others really got into the concept and called it a “10/10” while asking for more games that “explore an entire life in a lunch break” like @OathboundX, a few simply had no time for this. @Skippy_Tielle went, “This isn’t what we want right now. Not collectively. Not after ruining every AAA franchise known to date.” Ouch.
Amusing comments followed. @YorchTorchGames stated that the fly game looks far more interesting than Ghost of Yotei, which is honestly a choice. @UnHappyHammer68 then went off, “I bet your Xbox couldn’t cope with these graphics champ!” And @Platinum_Mask dropped a head-scratching riddle about the game. Why not?
Yet, some actually have positive things to say. @YesDaddyGubmint: “I hate flies, but I honestly think I might enjoy this.” Whereas @ericnofsinger calls it a “fun way to explore life goals.” Even @pixelluma could well see the streaming sensation on it and said they “make every second of [their] stream count” playing it.
And of course, unrelated and random whining had to support that announcement as well. @AdonisHercuIes wanted PlayStation to “fix the wishlist on the PS Store,” and @AlRaqy64101 went on to ask for the Iraqi PlayStation Store outright. Priorities, man.
So what is it? Time Flies? Some sort of deep, existential indie gem? Weird little experiment? Sarcastic meme wait? Honestly, maybe all three. It is out now on PS5, so if you ever wanted to spend your days living as a big dreamer of a fly, here is your chance. Just don’t get swatted before you finish checking off that bucket list.
Well, for one thing, it’s different from another battle royale, anyway, right?
(Wait, did I just jinx it?)
