Headup Games have been behind tons of massively successful titles, helping them port onto different platforms. They have just announced their newest title Pumpkin Jack will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch, PC, and other varying consoles during the fourth quarter of 2020.
They are describing the game as a 3D platformer where you play as Jack, the Pumpkin Lod. Your mission is to attack the residents of Boredom Kingdom and help evil spread across the land. In addition to the announcement trailer, a playable demo is available on Steam. Although this all sounds vaguely like Time Burton’s movie The Nightmare Before Christmas, there is surely no connection between the two other than the name Jack.
Enjoy an epic adventure full of otherworldly landscapes as you work to destroy the Good that counters your very mission. Sent by the Devil himself, you will ruin the peaceful nature of the Boredom Kingdom and wreak havoc and fright through their land.
Pumpkin Jack is set in a colorful and fun cartoon setting with lurid landscapes made of vibrant color palettes. The bright and happy feel mixes with the chaos you sew as you travel through several different levels of happy Boredom.
You must master the art of combo attacks as you battle challenging beast in every world. Dodge, time, and strike in dynamic real-time battles that will test your devotion to evil. As you travel through the game, you will unlock a variety of weapons and be able to pick your favorite to strike down good with.
No platform game is complete without puzzles. The many challenges within Pumpkin Jack rely on physics, gravity, and reflections as you move Jack through each puzzle. Sometimes you will have to ditch your body and just fling your burning head at books. Creativity is key when defeating these challenges as each reveals new levels and with that more exciting challenges to conquer.
As you travel along this quest, you find many a friend desperate to help you in your travels. From a snarky crow to a hooty owl, you will find allies in your quest to end the world of Boredom.
This game is expected to release on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch later this year. This is one of many games bringing back the golden day of Platformers, and for many fans, this is a welcomed sight. So if your big into the platforming genre, this might be the next big game for your collection.
