The cryptic tweet from Ubisoft created a lot of commotion in the Division community. The aforementioned tweet reads: “Incoming transmission. Agents from around the world answered the call, not just to play – but to find out, and to give their thoughts on what’s next. United in the Division – Standby for deployment.” Every fan now sees this as proof that Division 3 is really happening. I must say, those reactions are just pure bedlam.
Right from the start, let’s set the scene regarding that tweet. It is as vague as can be, but that’s Ubisoft’s entire schtick recently. They love to tease without giving any straight details. The “Standby for deployment” line alone has thus far generated massive reaction, building expectations for either a new announcement or another update for The Division 2. But let’s be honest here: after years of Div 2 content, players are starving for a sequel.
The reaction to the tweet is basically volatile yet there is hype, frustration, and madness. Jason Garrison asked the question bluntly, “I don’t understand why D3 isn’t being made. 2 is STILL strong.” And he’s not wrong—Division 2 does have at least a dedicated player base—but that has never stopped the clamoring for a third installment. Then there was katorao shouting in all caps, “DIVISON 3 IS REAL MAKE IT LIKE D1 PLEASE,” which… very mood. The first one set a tone that a number of players still swear by, even if Div 2 updated a ton of those mechanics.
Then comes the drama. User Okies could almost whisper about how they disliked Ubisoft for ignoring cross-play and cheating while churning out microtransactions in the meantime: “You guys have access to cross-play and didn’t even think to turn it on in the past 5+ years.” Meanwhile, R F accused NothingButSkillz of being a cheater: “YOU ARE A KNOWN CHEATER IN THE GAME.” Skillz replied to that in style: “Thank you for thinking my aim is so good at the game you think I cheat. Means I still got a little left in the tank :).” Savage.
There are other peculiar nostalgic cheerers, Too BearDarKun or would that be “Black Bear” in Chinese? Tweeted, “We need to bring back that OG division vibe,” and honestly? Same. Those snowy New York streets in the first one set the mood in a way that the D.C. setting of Div 2 never really did. Others, like FacilityBJJ, are just hyping for the next thing: “Can’t wait for part 3. Been around since day 1!”
Pessimists, on the other hand, began to surface. Mama Mercy had this to say about the long-lost spin-off: “Well Heartland was supposed to be next… and we all know what happened there.” Oof. And then there was kreativspieler a.k.a. Dirk, who made an almost sarcastic comment: “Let me guess… only content creator? Not real agents who play this game on a daily basis? Then don’t waste my time.” Can’t blame him—Ubisoft has done that a couple of times in the past, favoring influencers over actual communities.
So, what is going on there? Is this a Div 3 tease, a Div 2 expansion, or just all hype and no payoff? Ubisoft preferably won’t say, but the fact that they’re acknowledging ‘what’s next’ means something huge is on its way. So maybe time to dust off all your gear and get ready to deploy yet again, or maybe just another teaser. Either way, the Division community will pick up arms should this lead nowhere. Honestly? Same.
