Well, gamers, this is that one fusion no one anticipated, yet everyone secretly wanted to see. Squid Game fever is headed for Fortnite! And no, my friends, this is not a fan rendition or the feverish dream of a drug addict; it is quite real. Or if not the key art itself, the utter uproar of the entire community was pretty much worth it.
Bombing social media, the leaked image included a sleek logo-less keyart worthy of the Squid Game name. Sharp angles, gloomy masks, and the unmistaken pastel nightmare aesthetic that stole the show thunder-the image had become a world brainchild. And Fortnite players have scrutinized every single pixel as if it were the Da Vinci Code.
The real fun lies in the fact that they are able to set up Squid Game-style merciless, cutthroat competition which parallels Fortnite’s own battle royale chaos. Imagine the spawn of a match where the recent storm circle is replaced by that giant wall doll sitting and scanning for movement! Last little idea: Imagine the last two teams standing have to do an actual semi-glorious round of red light, green light to decide who wins. The possibilities, by themselves, have just started getting thrown into the pot by the players.
One player, GhostPoiint, proposed it might randomly trigger during gameplay, just like the recent event in Call of Duty. From all of Hell, that sounds like a madhouse. And so forth: EmorMetaX laughed as the circle closed in with only two teams remaining, transforming the final phase into an exhilarating game of freeze tag. While those who are currently picking their champions bungie765 proclaimed Sakura (whoever she is) will definitely rule the Squid Games. That’s a bold claim, but hey, we’re with it.
Even so, some of the people are not in that camp. Agent64209 bluntly stated, “No one likes this,” which… okay, cool opinion, but the hundreds of hyped-reply responses beg to differ. Even players who aren’t die-hard Squid Game fans, like YourFavWhiteMex, came to admit the art is “cool.” And is it really anything new? Fortnite does hold a legacy to making even the most ridiculous of crossovers something their player base just can’t resist-the AR-G-Randa concert, anyone? Yeah, I thought so.
Speaking of Ariana, PosYasu added, “We want Ariana Grande,” because some players just have their priorities straight. But hey, maybe she can show up as a secret boss in the Squid Game event. Stranger things have happened in Fortnite.
The big question: what is arriving? The keyart looks very sleek, but a few elements seem to be missing-a Front Man, if one may comment as found by ManAtTheFront_. Conceals skin, a boss, or is he just chilling in the files ready to scare us to death? It is quite pertinent to share that bmsquamtum hit hard with, “When is the new map for Squid Game?” Because if this is just a skin pack, that’s cool, but a full-blown map with mini-games? That’s the dream!
Well, a single official nod is something Epic Games has yet to give but really, leaks like this do not just spontaneously appear. And frankly, with the cultural hype still soaring high for Squid Game, Fortnite is always looking for the next big thing to keep the player’s attention. And given what that COD setup turned out to be, I’d say this has the potential to be a huge, game-changing collab.
What next? Well, look out for more teasers, as history has somewhat taught us that Epic loves dragging out hype. Could be limited-time mode, could be the new map, could just be a handful of sick skins, but one thing’s for sure; Fortnite is about to get so much more lethal. Honest to God? That is how we want it. Now who wants to go down?
