One game that has received a lot of hype and praise as of late is Cyberpunk 2077. Ever since its first trailer came out, gamers were in awe of the visuals and futuristic setting. It’s like Deus Ex mixed with Blade Runner. It has been a while since a game has garnered so much attention.
Although the game isn’t expected to hit the market for a couple of more years, that hasn’t stopped Projekt Red from releasing details about their monumental RPG. Recently on their Twitter account, they confirmed there will be no microtransactions or a battle royale mode. Both of these features have been focal points for many game companies as of late.
To be honest, it’s refreshing to hear Projekt Red confirm that they’re dedicating much of their time to making a compelling single-player story mode. Looking at some initial gameplay footage, Cyberpunk 2077 seems like one of the best RPGs to come out in some time. There are so many beautiful details.
It’s hard not to mention how massive the open-world environment looks. There is footage of crowds of people walking about the city, all with unique outfits and mannerisms. The city truly does feel alive, as if you’re there in person. Speaking of the city, the scale of the buildings is truly impressive. Buildings go up for miles, much like they do in Blade Runner. Just purely walking around and exploring all of the nooks and crannies of Cyberpunk 2077 seems like a good time.
In terms of the combat, it already seems stellar out of the gate. The augments have to be mentioned. You can upgrade your body in so many ways, from getting robotic spider legs to visual improvements for zooming-in capabilities. How you fight enemies is also unique. You can charge enemies or take a more methodical approach. Every decision you make has a consequence. It’s this rippling effect that should give this game exceptional re-playability.
There have also been clips showing the driving mechanics. They seem just as good as what Grand Theft Auto 5 offered. Even vehicle interiors in this game seem thought out, with futuristic details that pop.
Of course, the details shown in game clips are completely subject to change according to Projekt Red. Still, Cyberpunk 2077 shows a lot of promise, and it can be one of those titles that re-defines what it means to play an RPG. More details can’t come out soon enough.
