Ever since the joyful Sea of Thieves released back in 2018, it has been a Windows Store exclusive. Many have suspected that this exclusivity wouldn’t be lasting forever, and alas, it is not. Sea of Thieves will — in fact — be making its long-awaited debut on Steam based on reports directly from Rare.

There currently isn’t a release date for this Steam release, but there is a description page. It was posted a day ago. It was only a matter of time before this pirate experience eventually found its home with Steam. This platform is one of the most popular avenues for PC users looking to add to their collection.

Now that Sea of Thieves is finally coming to Steam, it has the chance to get introduced to a new audience. It really is a fun game in a lot of departments, from sailing open seas to going on quests with a party. This game wasn’t always the best experience, though.

There were a lot of bugs at launch and after hours of time with it, repetitiveness began to set in. There were times when quests began blending together, and after a certain point, you forget what it was you were supposed to do. It’s nice to see how far Sea of Thieves has come since launch, though.

Now in 2020, it’s a great game full of diverse experiences. Rare has done a great job at making seemingly mundane moments fun. The open sandbox potential is now limitless. You can sail the seven seas with a crew of trusty mates, taking down rival ships and gathering resources necessary for the next ship raid.

Or, you can simply go out on your own and complete quests for in-game currency. There are so many items you can collect and attire to customize your character with. What was once a pirate game that lacked a distinct identity now has hours and hours of fun content to enjoy. Rare doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon, either.

They’re constantly putting out updates to keep gameplay fresh. Sometimes, it’s a new weapon or a new mission with themed content. As a Sea of Thieves player in 2020, there is always something on the horizon to look forward to. It’s not how you start but how you finish. Rare has taken this mantra and really ran with it these last couple of months.
