Schalke have looked shaky to start the Summer Split. The team hasn’t won a single game since the split began, and without any significant changes to the direction of the team, this result is to be expected.

The first 15 minutes of this game seemed hopeful for Schalke fans, with only a 2,000 gold advantage for Origen. Although there were several small windows of hope for Schalke fans during this 30-minute game, Origen’s ultimately better coordination and execution took over.

Prior to the match, Schalke announced that Erberk “Gilius” Demir would sub for Lurox, who was feeling unwell and couldn’t play this game. The change was hardly enough to change Schalke’s fate, however. After 25 minutes, a teamfight in mid showed that the synergy and coordination between Origen’s Alphari, Upset, and Destiny was a force to be reckoned with, and one Schalke simply wasn’t able to level with.

Upset, Nukeduck, and Alphari were up for KIA’s Player of the Game, with Upset getting a 67.6 percent of votes for his impressive performance.

Schalke’s chances at succeeding even moderately this split are looking dire, and the team will need to set things straight and take a long hard look at the mirror as a team if they want to see change.

In their next game MAD Lions extended their win streak to seven games today after dominating Schalke in the 2020 LEC Summer Split.

It all started with a hopeful early game for Schalke fans, though. The League of Legends team seemed to be making all the right moves and getting early objectives. With a slight 1,000 gold advantage over MAD Lions, it looked like Schalke had a chance to break their winless run and defeat the LEC leaders.

But in a crucial teamfight at the 22-minute mark, Gilius was caught out after hiding in a bush near the dragon pit. This gave MAD Lions a window of opportunity to turn the game around.

Although the start of the game looked hopeful for Schalke, this marks their eighth consecutive defeat this split. They’re the only team that hasn’t won a single game in the LEC Summer Split, earning them a place at the bottom of the standings.

MAD Lions, on the other hand, maintain a firm position at the top of the LEC standings with a 7-1 record. They’ve beaten every team in the LEC they’ve faced so far except G2 Esports.

MAD Lions proved once again that they deserve the No. 1 spot in the LEC right now. Their creative plays, quick thinking, and superior mechanics inevitably make them a rival to some of the best teams the LEC has produced in recent years—and maybe even a worthy contender to take over G2’s reign.
