Publisher PQube and localizing team NekoNyan has announced they are bringing Sprite’s award-winning visual novel Aokana – Four Rhythms Across the Blue to the on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch this August.
The console announcement was followed by a special announcement trailer along with links to pre-order the physical and digital release of the game. The announcement trailer, which was posted in February, showcases the characters and some of the artwork included in the game.
Players take on the role of former competitor Masaya, who meets a new transfer student named Asuka. Along with Asuka, the characters become involved in the Flying Circus sports club as they try to be the best while soaring through the sky.
In the visual novel, players control the protagonist to grow friendships with the members of the sports club, which may lead to a romantic relationship.
While relationships are often important in visual novels, the player will have to help guide the team and support the individual members to do their best.
The game has multiple endings, depending on what path the player takes. Players will want to replay the game and make different decisions to see all of the possible endings. Some of the endings may be disappointing, while others may give the perfect resolution to the game.
The official game summary states:
Welcome to a world where people fly freely through the power of anti-gravity shoes. Become a coach for players who race in the sky and make the acquaintance of four charismatic girls. Follow their adventures as you all grow closer in this emotional story of hope, love and sportsmanship.
The Aokana team has announced a special physical edition of the game for the Nintendo Switch release. The Limited Edition is packaged with the base game and 100-page artbook inside a special collectors box. Switch owners can also purchase the game digitally on the eShop.
NekoNyan is a new localization team working to bring popular Japanese media to Western audiences. Sprite was the original development team that brought Aokana to life.
PQube has published several series, such as Cat Quest, Gal*Gun, and BlazBlue.
