Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Battle Royale is the most talked-about game mode, and it still hasn’t even been confirmed.
For the last month, been plenty of leaks about the potential mode has surfaced, including a data mine that showed off the names of the zones in the map and 4-player squad capabilities.
Now, an in-game glitch has revealed much more about the Battle Royale map.
Here is a Reddit post from Nateberg3, who was subjected to being thrust above an unknown map when he was trying to load into a Spec Ops match.
The video that Nateberg3 took shows off a massive, varied topographic map that looks like it can easily handle the impending 200-person battle royale.
He does a full 360, first looking towards an industrial area beneath snowy-mountains, then to a city by a vast body of water. Although nothing has been confirmed by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s developer Infinity Ward, this map looks perfect for the Battle Royale mode.
Two games that pioneered the modern battle royale format, Fortnite and PUBG, both utilize massive maps like this one to host the carnage. Typically, there are different parts to the map, each with their hidden areas, spots to camp, and guns to house.
Those two games have players drop from the sky onto the map as well, so it will be cool to see what Infinity Ward is planning for Call of Duty gamers to get onto the map.
Hopefully, there will be an announcement soon about Battle Royale. This has quickly become one of the worse kept secrets in a game. So, is there any point for the developers to hold onto this information?
If anyone surfs through the Call of Duty social accounts and the Modern Warfare Reddit page, they will quickly notice that a lot of gamers are unhappy with the state of multiplayer.
Infinity Ward designed Modern Warfare to be more comfortable for new players to get the hang of. To do that, they’ve added a lot of areas where players camp to get their bearings. However, this has also incentivized players to stay in one stop the entire match, aiming down sight and blasting anything that moves.
Veteran players have been vocal about the amount of camping that goes on in multiplayer, and a lot of them have threatened to stop playing. If that’s the case, and Infinity Ward has taken notice, they should announce the Battle Royale map to appease their long-time players in the short-term.
