This new free skin was added to the roster for PlayStation Plus subscribers, yet the community remained…well, divided. Some players were overjoyed, others would call out “blah,” and thus, the console wars began again.
The announcement came forth on a tweet that simply said, “FREE SKIN NOW AVAILABLE FOR ALL PS+ MEMBERS 🔥,” with a link to claim it. With that being said, the tweet was almost instantly bombarded with reactions going one way from utter celebrations to the other way of contempt of outright disdain. One player said jokingly: @Soulbound_TV: “Suddenly I’m loyal to PlayStation again 🎮,” while other gamers showcased irony, with one such user stated: @Nicosince: “Thank God it’s an ugly back skin. 🙏”
Another discussion was whether the skin was even worth waiting to be downloaded. @evelinsssz spilled the beans in a rant, saying, “They so lazy im getting mad… back then they gave us good skins but what is this….even if its free its so ass.” Meanwhile, @Quickbrick31884 trashed the whole design: “Who wants to play as a monkey 😭😭” (there isn’t any clarity on whether the skin really looks monkey-like or the comment is just an opinion).
Now, without a little console rivalry, no good discussion ever got under way. @Firebeastluck said Lamentation: “I wish it could be for Xbox players not for PlayStation. They’ve been getting this, There’s no luck for Xbox.” The comment opened a full-fledged back-and-forth on which @VWolf666 happily contributed the classic nerd jab: “Xbox is ass.”
But, hey, it’s free. Probably the most sensible take on all this was said by @ScottyDoezKnow: “For fuck sakes, y’all will complain about ANYTHING, even if it involves a FREE skin.” And they’re not wrong-everybody will complain, even if something’s given to free. Debate and discussion ushered in by the skin.
Good or bad, it is one more cosmetic to be added to PlayStation Plus membership locker, dusted off as something fashionable for the masses, and in case such luck’s not on its side, will end up being the world’s most useless thing to possess. But one thing is certain by the mere existence of this discourse: Gamers still have opinions.
If some Xbox goodies are what interest them, PS+ subscribers ought to decide on this one for themselves. Or maybe not. We’ll probably be occupied bickering about something else by tomorrow, anyways.
