PlayStation took to Twitter earlier today to give fans a chance to pick the best game of March. Their official account sent out a poll with every major release this March, letting fans vote for which title was the best in this month.
And honestly, this month has been great for games. Given the current state of the world, deadly pandemic and all, it feels strange to say something that positive. This month saw the cancelation of dozens upon dozens of gaming events, the delaying of other important titles, and so much more. Yet somehow, there was still quite a bit of good in the month.
Of course, the first things that come to mind for millions of players are the March 20th releases of Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, both of which have received some soaring praise since their release. For plenty of gamers, these might be the only thing that came to mind, honestly.
But that doesn’t mean they were the only releases in March. First on the list is Call of Duty: Warzone, the free-to-play battle royale game put into the famous franchise. This title has gotten a good amount of attention for its free-to-play format, unique Gulag mechanic, and overall quality design.
Creature in the Well makes the list, a top-down hack-and-slash dungeon crawler that sets players into an ancient facility to cleanse it of an all-seeing Creature. Granblue Fantasy: Versus also comes in on the list after its March 13th release, a charmingly animated anime fighter.
There are thirteen games on the list all in all, counting the handful we’ve named the rest of the games are:
- Hunt: Showdown
- MLB The Show 20
- My Hero One’s Justice 2
- Nioh 2
- One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4
- Paper Beast
- Persona 5 Royal
- The Room VR: A Dark Matter
- Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
It’s definitely a solid lineup, but you might be a bit confused given that many of these games weren’t released in March – or even 2020 – and that the aforementioned Animal Crossing: New Horizons isn’t even on the list. And, hey, Jedi Academy came out seventeen years ago!
The list, of course, is games that were released to the PlayStation in March. Hunt: Showdown, for example, was originally released almost a year ago in late August of last year. It… also didn’t come out for the PlayStation in March, interestingly. Hunt: Showdown hit the Sony console on February 18th.
So the list is a little wonky, but hey, the games on it are still great! What title took your vote?
